Rang up and paid my mortgage as usual today and asked if they had recieved many calls on the subject. They said loads but nothing will be resolved in the next couple of weeks. He seemed to think if you are due anything they will write to you in the next 5 weeks which fits in with the original letter saying 8 weeks. A previous poster on here said they had recieved some money already I'm just wondering if this is definately from the same error as it seems as no one else has recieved anything let alone a second letter. Of course they may have already re inbursed those who they feel were owed it and the rest of us will just recieve a further letter stating no further action to be taken!

I think I'm definitely due a refund but I've also only received the first letter which arrived within a few days. We've only had 1 poster claiming to have received a refund and frankly I'm sceptical. The sooner this gets resolved the better..........
  • Just a quick one.

    Are people still getting letters?

I have not had one yet. I have a Together Mortgage from 2006 which had a loan attached of under 25K.

However I had not had a letter. I have all the paper work from 2006 which includes the signed originals that states it is under CCA rules.

    Thanks

I must admit I've had my doubts too, the figures didn't stack up against my own calculations, the time scale was far too early and the poster claimed the money was paid into their own bank acc which contradicts NRAM's information.

Then again, why would anyone do that? Maybe i'm a little naive but I couldn't imagine someone would post such a thing. Even for sh1ts & giggles.

The account is fairly new, seemingly created for the purpose of replying in this thread.

It would be sad if it was a hoax, as the prospect of putting the money against higher interest debts would have gotten people's hopes up. That kind of joke is very cruel, so I hope it's not the case....
  • Just registered so I can chip in with some info; I've a together mortgage, about £11k unsecured loan. I've had a letter from NRAM and the account number quoted was NOT my mortgage account number. I just called them to check. They told me the account number in the letter references the account in question, which is the unsecured loan. I asked for more info, but the girl flatly refused to enter a conversation.
I've also noticed that in my statements, on the back of the first page, under 'breakdown of your loan', loan part 1 (the mortgage) is showing as being FSA regulated, but the loan part 2 (the unsecured loan) has 'n/a' under it. Is this the issue, I wonder?
  • Good Afternoon,

Has anyone who paid off their mortgages and loads with Northern Rock received a letter yet?

    Many Thanks

    I received the first letter.
I to have a together mortgage with a loan on it. The letter I received does not match the mortgage account no. Is that account number on the letter the loan part of the mortgage ?

The way I understood the woman on the phone, there are at least two account numbers, the one you know about already and the one on the letter refers to JUST the unsecured loan part.
I've no record of this account number on any paperwork, and I told her this - she didn't seem phased at all, 'it's another account number' is all she kept saying.
  • Hello all

Was just told about this today. We had a together mortgage from 2006 to Dec 2009 when it was redeemed. Unsecured loan of £8K.

i dont have any of the old paperwork unfortunately but the direct debit shows an 8 digit accout number.

However i read on one website that interest is only repayable from October 2009 to present...is this right? Only 3 months for us then if we are at all eligible
  • I have received a letter r.e this, saying they will look into it. My unsecured loan linked to my together mortgage was £24K originally when I took it Dec 2005. However, the letter (clearly addressed to me) gives a completely incorrect account number. The "New Style" statement I received (with correct account numbers!)for both parts of the loan still does not state the original loan amount?! This company is run by muppets!
