I have finally received a letter from NRAM (the first one) and it says I am entitled to redress, to sign and return. No mention of how much redress I'm entitled to, I have a vague idea but I guess now it's just a case of waiting for the cheque.
Morning
I'm in exactly the same position as you. Sent my letter back signed Etc 3 weeks ago and I still haven't heard back
Fingers crossed you will hear soon0 -
Hello - first ever post so please be kind!
Received a letter from NRAM to confirm the (now redeemed) unsecured loan part of my Together mortgage is entitled to redress.
However, the loan was taken out in joint with my now ex-partner who I haven't seen for over two years and I have no idea of his current address. The FAQ sheet sent with the letter says it is possible to split the cheque between two parties so I phoned NRAM to arrange this.
It turns out that only I have received the redress letter as the first named person on the original mortgage agreement and so it is up to me to contact my ex-partner to co-sign the declaration. As I don't know his address, NRAM suggested I would need to go through a solicitor to do this!
I've worked out we're entitled to around £1200 each so it's not an insubstantial amount of money but as we parted on bad terms, I'm not sure it's worth dragging up the past for the sake of some money although I do feel like I would be cheating him (and myself) out of money if I didn't make the effort to contact him.
Does anyone have any advice on how to proceed? Does NRAM have any responsibility to contact my ex-partner as well as me for example?
Any help would be greatly received)

Thats a tricky one, Id recommend doing it all by e-mail to keep it civil. I dont think you should leave it to NRAM to contact him as the form seems designed to make it as unhelpful as possible and i cant sede them doing any further chasing on youer behalf.
Any Ex-nram people got a cheque yet0 -
I’ve been following this thread since the start, but with almost nothing received from NRAM I’ve had nothing to contribute.
Ex-customer redeemed in Oct 2011, loan part of Together mortgage was for under £25k and not for home improvements, so pretty sure I should qualify. I phoned them in December last year to advise of new address. I got a letter to my new address in February but nothing since.
An email to them a fortnight ago is still unanswered, so as the July deadline for writing to all ex-customers has passed I decided to phone them last night.
It was not an encouraging conversation, they seemed to have no correspondence address on file (despite sending me a letter to it in February), and the standard response was “If you’ve not heard then you weren’t entitled”. I pointed out that what if my letter had been misdelivered, how would I know? Lots of head-scratching and they took my details (again) and someone “might”get back to me.
Only bits of useful information were that the last batch of letters were sent on Monday, so I guess there’s a slim chance those of us still waiting might hear by the end of this week.
Also the system will have a ‘flag’ on it if you’ve been written to about it, unfortunately those answering the phones don’t have access to it. Would seem logical to at least provide them with yes/no information if someone enquires if they’ve been written to, but that seems not to be the case with NRAM.
Will give it another week or so, but based on the competence of the person answering the phone I’ll not be presuming if I don’t hear that I’m not entitled.0 -
Might be worth sending a recorded letter.0

Not surprisingly I heard nothing from NRAM. I'll fire off a letter this week.
Are any other ex-customers still waiting to get a letter?0 -
We got our first letter through on the 1st of July, signed and returned it the same day. Today we got a further letter through to say verification checks have been successful and we will be getting a cheque in the next 28 days for £2,688.11, well chuffed with that!0

Good news DIY Dave I bet your chuffed! Will come in handy I'm sure!
We got our letter on 9th July - posted back the same day! Hopefully we will hear soon . Could I please ask when you re-deemed with the northern rock?0 -
I took my 'together mortgage' out in 2008, sold my house three years later for roughly 13000 less than i paid for it (bad times). my unsecured loan was for 13000 so i just kept my unsecured loan on, paying 13000 over the remaining term, which was about 30 years. i was only paying 150, but it was variable and likely to rise in years to come. not to mention i'd be paying about 40000 back.
anyway, decided to go to trusty lloyds, and took a loan for the same amount, meaning i'd pay the unsecured loan off over 5years (4remaining). it's a big chunk of monthly cash 372, but it gets it out the way sooner. it's hard though!
i'd say i settled my loan with northern rock just over a year ago, and was very pleased to learn of a cash refund.
this was in december though, and it hasn't halfed dragged on. i've had a few letters, and recently a declaration to sign which was sent back and scanned with 'nram' on the ninth. (they told me that over the phone, when i called to see what was going on). the guy said today that they have 5working weeks (28day working days) to send out a cheque.
I've no idea how much i'll be getting?
DIY Dave... what were your figures?0
