due to renew our business contract with T-Mobile tomorrow & i thought i'd sorted out that we'd have 2 galaxy S3's. logic being that get one of the best phones around now as we'll be keeping them for 2 years.
just been to have a look at one, they're HUGE! i knew they were a bit bigger than the nokia C7's we've got now, but i wasn't quite prepared for that. i could probably live with it, but i can see hubby struggling to cram that into his work trousers &, if it fits, he'll sit down & it'll snap! :rotfl:
is the S3 ok for daily use in a workshop/on-site environment? i was a bit worried about how robust the C7's would be but it's turned out that his is still working fine after various bumps & knocks & mine is the one that's started playing up recently.
alternatives - galaxy ace 2 seems ok, not all singing & dancing i know but we mainly use them as phones, very little web browsing or apps. don't know if we could get iphone 5 as only the iphone 4s is showing as available on their business plans online.

Business use maybe...depending on what the business use is.. They do consume a lot of battery power so whoever uses them must also need the features as well rather than just getting them as they are top of the range.AbbieCadabra wrote: »due to renew our business contract with T-Mobile tomorrow & i thought i'd sorted out that we'd have 2 galaxy S3's. logic being that get one of the best phones around now as we'll be keeping them for 2 years.

You say very little browsing or apps so really just any plain ordinary cheap phone will do and get a really cheap voice plan.
Smart phones seem to break fairly easily. Smashed screens...I've seen loads. Easy enough to fix but annoying.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

when we had our current contract 2 years ago i really was in 2 minds as to whether smartphones were going to suit us, but they have. being able to receive/send email, google something, take a decent photo has proved very useful.
i do think a lot of the gizmo's on the S3 would be wasted on us, but you don't know if you've never had them, they may prove useful. having to recharge every day isn't really an issue.
cheap voice plans don't really exist on business contracts, what you can get on a personal contract far exceeds what's available to us, but we're stuck as the plan has to be in our Limited company name. it's a legitimate business cost i know, but i still try to get the best deal at renewal.
will show hubby a few more phones tonight & see where we go from there i think. need to something asap though as my C7 is on it's last legs!0 -

But are you going up n down ladders, lugging lumps of wood about or clambering in & out of a big van? I think an s3 would survive with me but not the workman of the house.0 -

Nope, I'm driving a desk. If I had to do those things I probably wouldn't choose a £500 smartphone

Is that an S3 in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?

Abbie it sounds like your OH needs one of these ...

My brother-in-law got sick of getting phones broken, working with sheep and cows who would shove him about, knock him into fence-posts, and one cross ram who butted him in the back pocket and smashed his phone to smithereens.
He bought one of these, and so far it's stood up to everything fine. Should even manage to survive falling out of a pocket from up a ladder.
Get him one of those and a SIM only contract, and get a wizzy Galaxy s3 for yerself as a reward for being so clever .. I got myself an S2 back in February, and love it (never had - or thought I needed - a smartphone before then )I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.

Nice idea but we looked at tough phones last time & he was having none of it i'm afraid! The nokia c7 has survived brilliantly for 2 years, no issues with his at all, so perhaps they aren't as fragile as we think

Have you considered something like the Sony Xperia Go or Motorola Defy+? They're decent Android devices, but also dust proof, scratch proof and water resistant, and pretty compact as well. If you need a camera, the Sony is probably the better bet.0
