Would you report someone for driving a car that is not displaying correct road tax?

depends how old it is. I know i applied online for mine and it came a week after my old one ran out even though i applied in plenty of time.

    Personally i would not report.
  • Yes. I've even got the number pre-programmed into my mobile.

I said listen mate the cars not mine,i dont drive, never have prob never will so go and find its owner and pester him/her and closed the door.

No... especially being as mine is not currently displaying the correct road tax.

p00pieb0tt0m, do you not have anything better to do with your time than ring the dvla? Have you got the numbers for the benefits hotline, income tax hotline and the dog sh*tting in a park hotline too? I can always find em for you if you like...

Maybe you could better spend your time finding/renewing your tax disc instead of questioning other peoples morals.

I have every intetion of renewing it tomorrow. I couldn't find my insurance certificate which is why there has been a delay.

Don't the DVLA issue an automatic fine if you don't renew your road tax?

They do issue a fine, but I believe there is a 6 week grace before a fine is issued... (not that you get to drive for 6 weeks without buying tax, just that the fine is not leavied until 6 weeks after the tax expires)

This may or may not be true but i would not depend on it,i know someone who forgot to renew(no not me!)and it was a genuine oversite, yet resulted in a fine less than six weeks later.

It depends, and mostly on car condition. Road tax isn't a signal that a car is safe, nor even if it's insured or not. It's simply a tax, so I've no great desire to make sure people are paying it - what anyone decides to do with their own taxation is up to them.

However, where there's a car that couldn't even dream of getting get past an MOT and isn't displaying a tax disc, I'd be tempted to report it, if only to get the car off the road.
