Just because their network equipment failed on them miserably this year twice or was it more that they had to upgrade their systems with new hardware (I assume) and expect their customers to pay for the hardware well to think about it, it's obviously o2's own fault that their equipment had failed, they should of used better hardware!
Just who do you think pays for any companies upgrading their systems for whatever reason in the long run???0 -
i have just received an e-mail informing me of price rises, i have just renewed 2 contracts in october signing up for 1 year and the other a 2 year contract.
i have just phoned 02 to ask how they can justify putting prices up 8 weeks after i signed up, what is the benefit i gain from signing up for a fixed term. i was quoted the small print but also told its a standard e-mail and might not affect me! somehow i doubt that but the person in customer services has themselves just been informed about price changes and doesnt know the answer to my question.0 -
And for those on a discounted rate, they still get their discount but it is applied to a larger price, so their increase is more than the headline percentage.
Ah, good point! I am on a discounted rate, and have calculated my rise by reference to my monthly DD. If they take the tariff before discounting, my rise will be significantly more, as I am paying almost half the original cost (retention deal).
Oh well, time to consider moving once this deal expires..... in 18 months time!
Edit; just realised that according to the T&C's they could raise the prices again before the end of my contract. A further %age increase would result in an increase on this increase (I know what I mean!). Until now I haven't minded locking into 2 yr deals if the discount is good enough, as I don't mind sticking with the same phone for a couple of years. I may reconsider this if a two year deal could see two increases during the period.I'm a retired employment solicitor. I upgraded on Saturday and am waiting for my phone to arrive! So I've been stung for the full 2 years!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I seem to remember that you get 7 days to change your mind. Might be worth checking the T&C's?I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

"1. The Change-Your-Mind Period – If you change your mind about the phone or other equipment you’ve got from us, you can return it once and exchange it for another phone within 7 working days of when you signed up (your “Change-Your-Mind Period”). You’ll only be able to do this if the phone/equipment is undamaged, in its original packaging and you bring in your proof of purchase with it. If you’d rather, you can return your phone/equipment and cancel your Pay Monthly Mobile Agreement during the Change-Your-Mind Period. You’ll have to pay for any calls, texts and other charges you’ve incurred though. For full details, ask in store or see below for our policy on repairs and returns. Details are in paragraphs 10 and 13 of the Agreement."

Doesn't apply to upgrades.0 -
Cheeky - give 10% off for messing up, then in a few months time hit people with a permanent rise.
It'll hit me for £1.31 a month (love the 58p headlining lie, not)
Fortunately I'll be switching to sim only a few months later though.0 -
Don't worry, here is why O2 think a rise is good
Price increases are never welcome and this isn’t a decision we’ve taken lightly. However, it will help enable us continue to invest in the services that matter to our customers while still offering great value for money. Here are some examples:
Priority Moments. Last year we brought customers 5,000 offers from 1,500 big brand names, saving them £25 million in deals and discounts.
O2 Gurus. With friendly advice in our shops, online and over the phone, we’ve helped over 8 million customers make the most of everything that digital can do.
O2 Wifi. We’ve set up thousands of wifi hotspots giving free wifi in shops, cafes, bars across the UK – giving free, fast internet on the move.
O2 Recycle. We’ve given £40 million cash back to customers in return for old gadgets. And any money we make goes straight to our youth charity, Think Big.0
