Good luck ..Skype is cool ..My son is at university and it is nice to see his face every now and then .

Your explanation of the problem doesn't make much sense technically, internet key, it takes too much of their internet time etc, so it could comes across as an excuse, or could affect whatever you buy.

Well, the above highlighted bits suggest to me that you aren't actually being very nice!!!Its no excuse, they do have the inclination to fix it, just not the money and they are very busy people. All I wanted was advice as to what I could buy cheaply to be able to skype them-not your 'take' on if they want to fix their laptop or not.
