Receiving really nasty phone calls and just accused the wrong person

  • We had this happen a few years ago and were advised when they phoned to randomly press a few numbers so they make the noise and it makes them think ur putting a code in to trace this caller, did this and never got bothered again, might be worth a try

From just a few days ago there are now new stalking laws making it easier for the police to deal with it, these new laws also make it clear to the police that they HAVE to deal with it. Do it now, quickly, keep those recordings, get this sorted, it will be affecting you more than you realise, I speak from experience

If you get withheld numbers blocked does that not mean that switchboards cannot get through? The hospital numbers etc dont register when they call, it just says we do not have the number when you dial 1471

Lots of people don't accept withheld number calls and it isn't a problem, so you should do this at least for a few weeks until they get fed up and stop calling.

If someone you want to speak to trys to call you but can't get through because their number is withheld, they just need to dial "1470" before they dial your number and they will be able to get through to you.
  • Thanks for all the advice.

I unplugged the phone last night so there was nothing to worry about this morning. It is not a long term solution but gives me a bit of breathing space to get my thoughts together.

OP plugging your phone out will not stop the calls in fact you doing that could stop you getting an emergency call from family ect.

Please take some of the great advise that has been provided and I hope it stops.

Why are threads started that ask for suggestions yet then don't take any notice of the suggestions offered?
Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.
  • Again, thanks for the replies.

I unplugged the phone for one night, not as permanent solution as I wanted some breathing space.

I have taken all the suggestions on board and have got the block 10 number thing from BT. If this doesn't work and they change phones, then I will go to the police. I am happy with this decision as I feel that if I go to the police I can show that I have done everything I can to stop them.
