  • If you get withheld numbers blocked does that not mean that switchboards cannot get through? The hospital numbers etc dont register when they call, it just says we do not have the number when you dial 1471

They get a message saying something like ......This number does not accept calls from withheld numbers please remove the block and redial if you wish to contact this subscriber .....

Quite honestly I don,t understand why you are waiting for yet another call before contacting the police.

A box of chocs for the guy you accused would not go amiss.
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

You can call your local police station, their number should be in the phone book. If it isn't then just call whatever number you can find.

I hope you've kept all the messages on your machine, they are evidence.

Just report it, it's a crime and needs to be dealt with properly. I had a series of harrassing texts some years ago and that was awful enough, this must be even worse for you. Get it dealt with properly and whoever is doing it will end up with a caution or worse.

I agree with the cynics who say "wait & see"; but if you really have accused the wrong person, then it shows how upsetting these calls are, throwing your judgement out of kilter.
Don't wait - report the calls - you only have to ring the police to get the ball rolling
  • Sorry to be harsh, but if you don't report these calls you are being an idiot. Nuisance calls are one thing, threats of violence are a whole new level. And a crime in themselves.

Even if the police do not do anything, you will make your job harder if you don't establish a record of events. When you need them to act you don't want them to be telling you to wait and see. Again.
  • Ring the police and get it over and done with it's been going on for 2 weeks already why let it continue. They are obviously upsetting you.

Have you had a fall out with anyone recently?

The sooner you report it the sooner it will get sorted.

You should have reported it by now and I'd suggest doing so asap

  • Thanks for all the replies.

I haven't fallen out with anyone at all recently.

We haven't gone to the police because it sounds so trivial. Getting funny/nasty phone calls doesn't really feel like a police matter and I worry about bringing trouble to someones door. I know how stupid that sounds as I have not done anything wrong.

I haven't taken the threats of violence seriously but your reaction is making me think twice. I was more upset that someone was making personal accusations.

I have kept the messages and we will see what happens next.

Meanwhile I will unplug the phone and go to bed!

With BT if you were getting nuisance/malicious calls they could divert them through diverted through an operator to put a trace on them and screen them out - my grandmother had to do that a few years back.
The systems may have changed but your provider should have a nuisance calls dept that can advise you and which can trace the calls backs. Threats to break your windows isn't trivial - give your provider a ring, and if they say to involve the police, I would certainly do that.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
