The problem is anywhere I move to will already have a contract in place so I'm afraid it doesn't help.

Surely the contract is attached to the person not the phone number, if you move you take your contract and your phone number with you.

How will it? Unless you move into shared accommodation. Flats/houses normally have their own separate broadband connections.

So why not wait until you move and then the issue won't arise?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Because, like many people, my livelihood (not to mention some of my leisure time) depends on having an internet connection.

There zero chance of me living in anything but shared accommodation next.

That doesn't meet any of my requirements :( It's got very tight bandwidth restrictions and doesn't seem to have monthly phone only so I can use a better provider.

Plusnet are now a lot less restrictive with their bandwidth now with their unlimited package (virtually nil).

So how have you been managing since you started this thread nearly 4 months ago? That's longer than the short term contract you say you need.

I am currently using shared internet which I have no control over and cuts out far too often to be productive but is still better than spending £50+ a month.

Rather than criticise my living circumstances, I'd be really grateful for attempt to answer my questions.
