How do you make your pesto, and do you find it cheaper than buying a jar? Good quality olive oil, pine nuts, and basil aren't that cheap, I find!

I have pots of herbs on the windowsil, and use that basil (although I sometimes throw other herbs into it as well - a oregano, basil and thyme mix is nice with pasta :)

I buy pine nuts from SUMA, so have a massive bag of them in at the moment - as a family of veggies / vegan we have loads of nuts in as we snack on them all the time. Again, I often add pumpkin and/or sunflour seeds to the pinenuts (again, bought in bulk from SUMA).

I prefer to make my own as I can both add differing herbs and seeds / nuts to give differing flavours. Also, store bought ones often have cheese added, which means that they are no good for the vegans, and often are not veggie either.

Ooopppss! Completely forgot to post this. The year certainly is going quick, we have a number of family birthday's coming up now which makes it go even quicker. Anyway, here's my plan. Have my mother visiting Tu-Th, usual visitor Wed, and the kids are having loads of friends over on Fri (must be mad)

Mon - Roast lamb/cashew nut, all the trimmings
Tues - Lentil shepherds pie, veg
Wed - Soya & Nut Balls/Meatballs, Tom Sauce, Spaghetti
    Thurs - Chickpea/Meat burgers, salad
Fri - Toad-in-the-Hole (meat & veggie), mash, veg
Sat - Roast (I know it's twice, but it's so easy)
Sun -Pasta in Tomato Sauce with some sort of topping

Haven't decided on the veg yet, will play this by ear. Hope everyone has a super week.
New Mantra: I must not visit MSE until after I've completed all my chores!!!!!

Fri - left over chicken made into curry
Sat - pork chops roasted veg jacket pots.
