If you are buying a repossession it will go to public notice and you are at risk of losing the property right up to the date of exchange. If any higher offers and proof of funds come in before exchange, they will be accepted. You can expect to be toing and froing with the agents quite a bit.

My son bought a repossession 6 months ago, and the day before exchange and completion (which took place on the same day) he had to increase his offer by £3k to ensure he got the house. After numerous offers, he ended up paying £11.5k more than his first offer, and £11k over the initial asking price.

You won't get any extras, that's for sure.

we are going to view a house which appears a corporate sale (possible repo) and if it checks out will be putting in an offer.

We should be attractive buyers as we have a buyer ready to move in on a weeks notice; we have mortgage offer and solicitors instructed from another sale which aborted last week.

So; what can I try to get them to include to get the deal?

Was thinking of asking them to pay our legal fees and our estate agents fees? Any advice? Anything else any of you have blagged?:D

Why not just deduct your legal and selling fees from your intended offer?

We got £25,000 off the asking price plus washing machine, cooker and fridge (which we didn't actually want!) all in all quite a good deal for us :) but we are FTBs with a massive deposit.

The man who sold us our house left a tumble dryer in the garage. We have used it a few times, but I have never trusted it.
  • I've seen a lot of repos for sale, and they have a public notice where the offer is higher than the asking price.

Also, why do you "almost guarantee we will be ready before anyone else too". You have a chain. What if a FTB comes along?

Exactly......a repo we viewed (but didn't like) in 2011 sold for £60k more than the asking price :o
    Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

    Over £40,000 mis-sold PPI reclaimed

I don't see why having a big deposit would make a difference. If someone came across offered more, even with a smaller deposit they'd take that as they have to get the most money they can for the place

that's what put me off even offering on a repo.
