I really dislike our neighbours

  • We only have neighbours on one side as we are at the end of a block. Our current neighbours are the third set we've had. I am sure that they don't like us. The wife always blanks me. Her first comment when they moved in was "OMG, 1 no 2, no THREE BOYS" as she noticed my children.

They didn't like it when we decided to build an extension and put in some very emotional letters to the planning department. Usually, the objections are posted on the web, but these were so emotional the planning department decided not to post them.

More recently, they decided to use some of our front garden to store their bins. That wouldn't have been too bad, but they then build a large wooden crate and started filling it with wood. We then had problems with a blocked drain and it turned out that they had graveled the area over where they put their bins - and loads of gravel had gone down into the drain. The final straw was when the planted 2 conifers 3 inches from the side of my house, on my garden. It was apparantly to hide the bins and make the area look nicer.

I am sure they felt I was totally unreasonable in asking them to remove the conifers, gravel and bins. But they were damaging my house by doing this. They have moved everything, but the female ignores me completely.

On the other side, the probably think we are very selfish in building a large extension and not letting them us my front garden for their rubbish. (I was told that they were very offended when I said I did not want my front garden to look like a tip).

Gosh, I didn't know I was going to rant so much. Sorry! :rotfl:
  • How very odd. Why on earth would they decide to use your garden for their bins? Do they not have a front garden big enough, or do they just not want to put their rubbish in their garden?

Same here, although it's fine now since we sent the Council round and we just ignore each other. Music all weekend, if you had a sick day it was all day, evening, parties where the house would shake, parking across our drive, chucking beer bottles in our garden and leaving half drunk bottles of wine strewn everywhere, getting home in a taxi at 2 am and standing outside our bedroom window wailing and shouting. Shame we don't live next to the person opposite, even though she has two noisy kids I would've swapped it any day.

The woman who lived upstairs before me was horrid - she flooded me 9 times in 18months, totally ruined my kitchen. When I got it redone, she went and flooded me 3 days later - she had no insurance, council wouldnt fix the damage she caused - no end of a headache.

She abandoned the property, now I have someone who sounds like a drug addict blaring music from 7:30am to all hours - I can actually hear it word for word and turn on ID track on my mobile and it tells me what song it is, she then starts swearing and arguing with her other half who is always there despite it apparently just being her and her child who moved in, she has no carpets down of any description, she thuds around like a hippo, and her and her bf scream and shout all day then have 2 hour long sex sessions that wake my 6yr old up - who then asks if the lady upstairs is being killed, because it IS THAT OVER THE TOP SCREAMING.

That really is horrific! I did smile though, because it reminded me when I was in Germany and had a German couple next door having what only I can describe as almost violent sex which went on for about 6-7 hours (Literally no joke, they had one 30 minute-odd break in-between! Went from 7 pm to 1-2 am!) Had to fashion earplugs out of loo roll to block out the 'Ja Ja Ja'.

I hated the neighbours the one side of me for years. She was a snapping snarling sort of woman.... her kids were just as nasty. The dog was a rotty and barked at anyone who came to my door.

Then one day she left him. Took the kids and the dog and its bliss now.

He is now living with someone who's children he's trying to pass off as his own but its pretty unlikely as he is black, the woman is white and the kids have milky white skin and the deepest of blue eyes. Still, i might be wrong and it doesnt matter to me but if they arent biologically his i wish he didnt feel that he had to lie.

The woman he is with now is lovely and the kids are gorgeous!

Ugh I have had horrible neighbours in the past - the worst were people with several feral children - she would tape up the letterbox so her little kids wouldn't disturb her (She used to leave the key in the front door so the older kids could open it).

They never worked and went to the doctors to ask if there was anything she could take so she 'could have twins next time'.

One of the small ones threw a brick at my back door and smashed the glass - when I asked would they pay they laughed and said 'You can't touch us we are on the social' Delightful family!

I hate my neighbours too. And I've never felt such hatred for someone in my life before. All you hear from their place is them yelling at their kids "MOVE, FKIN MOVE!!!" "YOU GET YER ARIS DOWN HERE NOW!"

We're mid terrace and have our wee bit of green fenced off, but still their dog gets in to crap in the garden. I've told them about it once and warned them, the next time it goes through their letterbox.

Social services are involved. And they are pleasant to my face, but every time I hear them yell at those kids, I totally cringe. The dog cowers before him when he hears him yell. Such a nice way to speak to a 5 yr old and 2 yr old twins :/

i'm mid terrace too and my neighbour on one side is lovely but the other side family are horrible, loud, shouty sweary parents and three just as shouty, sweary children all under the age of 9 - i can normally hear their constant arguing all day over the weekend - thank God i go to work during the week otherwise it would be too much to bear!

The kids are out on the street until all hours, the parents don't work and don't speak to anyone on the street as they have over the years upset most people on the street.

I am hoping they will outgrow the house and move soon - they are private DSS tenants so I am not sure if complaining about them to the council will have any effect.

Awful neighbours can be the bain of your life cant they. I am lucky in as much as my nearest neighbours are the most lovely, considerate, salt of the earth type people.

In the last couple of years a family moved into the next road from us and bit by bit they have been making peoples lives a misery. Lots of families round my way own their homes but they rent theirs so we are all hoping that within time they will move on. They are vile, foul mouthed, ignorant, arrogant bullies who have no moral compass and look as rough as. They are somewhat of a laughing stock as they bailed out of the last property they rented owing thousands to the landlord. They did a moonlight flit and moved two miles away. Never has the phrase 'village idiots' been more apt
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.
