You need to buy your child an ipad to be able to access his schoolwork in future.
or
If you were considering buying your child a computer this Christmas we would recomend ipads as they are compatible with our teaching models?
I wonder how it was worded?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

If you've ever yanked your hamstring you'd know what it meant all right  In this context hamstrung means somewhat financially crippled.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Daily Mail speak for "a bit cross" maybe?
A definition below:
Hamstrung:
2. To destroy or hinder the efficiency of; frustrate: "These worthwhile books are often hamstrung by unimaginative formats and inaccurate art" (Don Lessem).
The Fail obviously wanted to make this sound more dramatic than "a tad put out..."
I agree with ringo_24601 that a Raspberry Pi would be a good suggestion.0 -

Our school has taken on the 'ipad' scheme. All the pupils are given a fully insured ipad 3 ,with a case,#25 itunes voucher and screen protectors. I pay 20 pounds a month for both my children to have ipads and will do for three years, after which ownership is fully transferred to my children.
The school asks the parents of each school year if they would like to take up the scheme, if not enough parents want to, the scheme is not used for that year ( both years since it started have gone ahead) Any parent who does not want their child to have an ipad can opt out. No child will be exclude due to finance...there is a set figure of 15 pounds a month, however if this is not affordable any reasonable contribution is accepted , with the school taking up the slack.
The scheme is working extremely well in our school and the children are being educated in a way that refects the 21st century that we live in0 -

if a raspberry pi needs a tv, how would a child use it in a classroom?
i think the pad suggestion is due to the versitility that pad devices have, kids can whip it out in a lesson access their homework or take notes from class, as well as accessing the web0 -
My sons school has been pushing the purchase of ipads for the past year. The current "deal" is just over £20 per month for 2 years for an ipad2 with option of buying it for £70 at the end of the two years. Total £550.
Having two children at this school we have managed to resist this offer.
Aside from the cost, 1000 students all with identical ipads could lead to problems. My children are forever losing coats, P E kit etc.0
