294 councils banned from DVLA access since 2009

My local council uses patrol officers from a nearby town rather than employing people directly themselves. So it is possible that the local council doesn't have a contract with the DVLA.0

Some of the LAs have no contract in place because they have set-up other joint services with other LAs.
For instance, Colchester Borough Council shows as 'Closed Down', this is because they set-up the 'North Essex Parking Partnership' to run the parking in Colchester, Braintree & Tendring Council areas. The contract is therefore with NEPP not the respective Councils who are part of the scheme.
Even if NEPP were to lose their access, they would simply pass the reg numbers onto Essex County Council who sub-contract them to act as agents of the County Council in respect of parking issues.
This will be the same across the country as LAs join forces to run services such as parking enforcement, housing etc. Hence why there are 94 permanently banned LAs on the list. Big Brother Watch really failed to research their findings properly before posting.Never Knowingly Understood.

I understand that happens, but is it legal ? Is the passing of personal information allowed in this instance under the dpa ? Be interesting to find outExcel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
SO NKDC issued 116 parking tickets since they ceased having a contract with DVLA. Ive now asked them the killer question.......0

I guess the same goes for authorities such as Brighton and Hove who use a private contractor so I assume it's the private contractor that has access not the council. All aboard the Gus Bus !0
