Very interesting, this is what sticks out for me. How can these councils still get driver details if they are permanently banned from database access? Surely if they get the details from elsewhere then this is a dpa breach ? Maybe a FOI should be done on them about where and how they get driver details.
In addition, 38 organisations have been permanently banned over the same three-year period, including some the UK's biggest local authorities such as Camden, Southwark and Brighton and Hove.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
  • Does that mean I can take a trip to Brighton today, stick a finger up to the looney Greens and their ridiculous parking policies, not pay for the meter, and get a ticket which they cannot (lawfully) follow up?

Wishful thinking, we don't know when since they had the TEMP ban.

""It has temporarily banned 294 bodies since 2009, including local councils, Sussex Police and Transport for London.""

Just got the link which leads to a spreadsheet of the Banned ones (From pepipoo)

Interesting and now used as the basis of a letter to the local rag in Brighton and Hove.

You'd be mad to travel to the city centre by car at anytime let alone this close to Christmas. Stick your fingers up at the looney Greens by shopping in a town or city that actually welcomes your custom if I were you.

  • I wonder if they have a new contract in place, or do they call it City of Brighton now.

Don't make that Swansea though as the council is systematically destroying the town centre with loony one way systems, traffic lights and bendy busses ;)

You ought to come and see our new very empty cycle lanes - they're a MARVEL to behold. You could even stop and have a picnic on one and wonder at the huge queue of cars pottering by at 5mph now the lanes have been reduced to one ;)

Last night, went late night shopping in Tenterden (small I know) but no (well 1) empty shops and minimal chain shops. You know what they actually had free onstreet parking and cheap off street. Town was full, normally is.

I'm Sussex born and bred but I've just had to look Tenterden up ! Lovely part of the country - especially Rye.
