Why do buyers wait a week to pay??!

in Ebay, auctions, car boot sales, post & parcels
This has always had me wondering - why - when a buyer bids in the last minute - sometimes many times - (so they are obviously sat at their computer) do they not pay for days, sometimes a week?

The usual "excuse" or apology is :
a) a family member fall ill and I forgot
b) have not logged on and forgot
c) have been "away for a few days"

I think I am very patient and have waited up to two weeks for payment before with polite reminders - then they just pay Paypal anyway?

Any buyers out there who can explain this? Thanks!!

    No idea I am afraid. I always pay straight away if I am on the computer or as soon as I log on. I have had a few people bid and then not pay for days.

    Add to the list : I lost your address...an excuse I had 10 days after end of auction.

    some people use snipers but that's not an excuse to delay payment. I hve always paid straight away because I want to get the item a.s.a.p!!

    Same reason sellers don't send the items after two weeks! They don't give a damn.

    Perhaps because eBay allow a buyer a week to pay they don't feel the need to make contact.

    Yup, dealing with one such excuse at the moment, except it will be three weeks overdue by then.

    I can't believe that people bid when they don't have sufficient finances to pay.

    I laughd at this ..... I have had to wait 3 weeks once and then seller saying that they had sent it yesterday ..... with a tomorrows RM sticker on it (IYKWIM).

    The truth would have been better....i couldn't be bothered....I forgot ....
