Hi guys hopeing someone can help me here, I have ants everywhere, front garden, side of the house on the drive, back garden, even under the house, holes in concrete where house meets path, where they seem to generate from, I was wondering what to use, have tried the usual powder stuff with no effect, also I have 4 cats and 2 dogs, so I dont want to use anything that would harm them, can anyone suggest anything, had the council round afew years ago, they charge £52 then and still I have the problem, and all they did was spray stuff down the holes, they seem to get more and more each year, it's like the whole of the front garden is an ant hill, is there anything out there, or do I have to just put up with them, cannot open windows in summer on ground floor for them as they climb up the walls and get in the house, cannot enjoy the front garden at all for them, desparate

I used Raid spray last year, but it's having no effect this year, these beasties are in my kitchen, coming up through the hole around the radiator pipe - best suggestion I heard was pouring boiling water down the hole, but not sure that's a good idea inside the house......Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

The thing that has worked for me for a few years now *fingers crossed* is a spray called 'ant stop'. I have bought this from Homebase for about £5 and once you have squirted it, it protects for approx 3 months!
The best thing is, it says on the bottle no need to exclude pets or children. So all round a good product!!
If you decide to try it, I hope it works for you! Good luck!0 -
raid are doing bait traps that you put where they wander or theres nippon ant killer thats a jelly. both take the poison back to the nest and kill the lot off. worth a look.0

Hi
An animal friendly way to kill ants is by pouring boiling water over them and following them back to the nest and pouring boiling water down the hole. It doesn't get rid of all of them but it will get rid of quite a few and over time will deplete them. You have to do it regularly. (We did it every day for a fortnight last summer and it vastly improved the problem. We can't use any type of poison because the front yard is used by children and animals.)

We have had a similar problem in the past.
I use Ant Stop! Bait station. It is a plastic disc thing with the chemicals inside and you just open the flaps - pets and kids can't get at it and it has completely cured our problem - touch wood. I have it just inside the kitchen door and on the kitchen window sill and it has stopped any invasions and we don't seem to have any outside now eitherThe birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

Apparently a product called Just Ants is available. This is a preparation of eelworms mixed with water and is supposed to work well. The supplier is "Just Green" on 0800 3896002.0

Boiling water is my answer, although when the flying ants come its a constant battle!
