Getting a Grip on 2013

Good luck with "the talk", Ruby! I hate having to broach that subject with my OH as unless I bring good news to the table with me, he just gets grumpy with the whole subject. Ryder definitely has a grumpy cat air about him at the moment!!
Had quite a relaxing day today! Got up and attacked some pots, laundry, cupboards and general mess before work. Also discovered the trickery I've been playing with Ryder's medicine is totally uncalled for as he'll basically eat them solid. Popped to co-op before work as they have great deals on Mexican food which just so happens to be my food of choice! Spent £6.34 as we also needed some veggies.
When I was at work I got a text from my Mum to say she was venturing out of the house to get hobby supplies (wool, buttons etc!) as she's on house arrest but is completely bored. So I tagged along, forgetting my purse in the 5 minutes I had to get in from work, changed and back out again. So I was treat to a much needed laundry basket, a fridge pack of cola and a sack of dog food for Ryder. All stuff I was planning on getting but my Mum refused to take the money back once I got home. And who am I to question my elders? Had a great afternoon with her though. Lots of laughs as always!
Got 5 things done today towards de-junk January. Including glossing a door frame, cleaning out 4 cupboards and re-starting a blog. So I feel like I've had a fairly busy day and fully deserved my nap on the sofa while OH played games, although I can't sleep now!
Called the vets and got an earlier appointment as Ryder has somehow smashed a massive hole in his cone of shame. Great! So we need to be up and at it as early as ever in the morning. Funny how I got up at 5:45 so easily in summer when it was light but now it's a nightmare if I have to get up a second before 7!0 -
Well, yesterday didn't go at all to plan
Ryder's paw was badly swollen and (to quote the Vet's very technical lingo) "smelly" So it's been cleaned, but his painkillers have finished so he's back to being pretty vocal. This is turning into the chronicles of my dogs foot more than our debt clearing mission!
So yesterday nothing amazing happened. I was back from the vets at 10am with an appointment to go back Tuesday evening, and under orders to keep his foot aired and cone of shame on. But he figured out how to lay in a weird, contorted, way so he could reach his paw around to faff with it, so I spent the whole day keeping an eye on him. I did watch Apartment 143 with OH after he'd finally settled down in the evening. I think I just got a taster of being a parent!
Not in at Job No2 until 4pm today, loses me a bit of money but they don't need me in so early. I'm kind of glad as it gives me a bit longer with Ryder, I was so stressed leaving him this morning. Partly because he was uncomfortable but also because I can't really afford for him to need more stitches
Decided to sign up to the Flylady thread. I think having everything itemised and feeling confident in their insane-clean-ability to not leave anything untouched will take a lot of stress out of how I clean the house at the moment, which is trying to do everything all at once everyday. I think I need to loosen up a bit too, let the house be a little messy and be okay with that. Bookmarked the thread on my phone, so I can go on every morning and transfer the days list onto my "to do" app.
Back to Job No1 too! Was barely in for an hour before I got blamed for someone else dropping the ball. Maybe it's just me, if I make a mistake I own up to it so I really bugs me when others try and pass the book. Reminds me why I was starting to dread coming here on the lead up to Christmas. I only really like it when the accountant is in, and that's because he's on a higher level of geek than me so we just talk about movies and conventions :rotfl:0 -
Aww poor Ryder and his smelly foot! Hope he's better soon.
Best of luck with the flylady thread - I try that now and again but with working full time and living with a retired Dad, I was coming home from work, cleaning, going out to work next day, coming home and it was all a mess again. It got me down so much that I just stopped bothering. It's not a hovel or anything, but I certainly leave the washing up for him to do now! I would *love* a place of my own that I could return to in the same state I left it in, but that won't be happening for a while!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Aaaw Poor Ryder. Hope the infection clears up soon.
I have read about the Fly Lady thread twice today and it is tempting me to try it again. I remember them going on about a shiny sink :rotfl:.
I do need the incentive to get it done though. My house is always tidy ish as long as you don't look for dust.
I end up doing the same as you though, and aimlessly cleaning bits of room but never feeling like the whole place is clean.
Right...thats it...Of to find the Fly Lady thread. I guess its in the Old style section?.
Hope you had a good day xxx0 -
Poor Ryder! Hope his poorly paw is better very soon and he can be rid of the cone of shame! He looks so sad!
I read the flylady stuff but so much just didn't apply to me as we've got such a small flat that I spent a lot of time just picking out what *could* actually be done! I do need to make myself a daily list of jobs to do on top of the every day jobs and try to stick to it though.
Hope the bad day at job #1 is just a blip, sounds like job #2 are super keen on you though so would be great if they end up taking you on full time!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

I don't know. New record today, 10 minutes in and got blamed for someone else forgetting to do something :j Just so so sick of it, I hate not liking working here anymore.
Thought I'd quickly do todays post as Flo Rida is on the radio and I'm too busy mentally singing and physically dancing to properly concentrate on something account-ish.
Hope your flylady day went well if you did it, Steph! I got 7 things done from the list, although I did add some of my own so I'm not sure if what I did was flylady or flycinny!
Bad news is Ryder ended back up on the operating tableHis stitches got pulled at with having his booty off, so they've had to file his pad down, stitch it up again in the hope it scabs over and heals that way. Big question as to why they didn't do this in the first place, and why they only properly bandaged it up this time! OH picked him up and asked lots of questions, rather than just taking his care list and trusting that was right like we did the first time. Poor bean is still drowsy this morning. Thankfully it's still covered on the insurance, but I think we'll be paying for the next few consultations as they'll bring us over our claim limit.
Good news? Our EM Account is at £500 _party_ Got the payment from Quidco, plus skinting myself to round it up to £500. Also put £2 into the loan over payment which now stands at grand £3 for the 52 week challenge.
Also started a blog to follow our journey in a more condensed, less babbly more sweary way. With pictures!!!0 -
Oh poor poor Ryder
Hope he heals quickly now and he gets back to being his boisterous self!
Well done on hitting the £500 mark! :T
Have you heard anything from job #2 about going full time with them? Maybe it's time to cut the strings with job #1 completely and go your own way, IMO they've been taking advantage of you for far too longOvercome the notion that you must be ordinary. Poor old Ryder, that sounds traumatic for all of you
Hope he's back on his paws soon. I'm so glad the insurance will cover it - that must be some relief.

Thanks! I hope he's better soon too, I think the big problem with last time is they massively underestimated how active he is. Even on what I'd consider a "bad" day for exercising him I know he gets a better walk than most dogs. So what I think is him keeping off his feet it probably 10x what they expected him to do on it. Although tomorrow marks a full week with no walkies, I'm getting a little tubby feeling although I've apparently lost 2lb!Have you heard anything from job #2 about going full time with them? No, not yet. I think I need to drop big hints about being fully open to taking on more hours and decreasing them at Job 1! :rotfl: I would honestly just leave if it wasn't for the fact I can't do without the money. Damn bills!
And thanks! I'm quite impressed that we've managed to pull that much together in just over a month with post and pre Crimmus shopping to contend with!
I spoke to my Gramps about the £120 I owe him. I don't think I posted about this! Basically he said to leave the EM account be, and just pay him back when we have the money "no rush". Ideally, I want it paid by the last Friday in January. Which I think will be very very easily done! So I've adjusted my January goals. They now look a little like:
January Goals:- Keep a spending diary.
- Aim for 15 NSDs. 4/15
- [STRIKE]Get EM savings up to £500.[/STRIKE]
- Save money separately for at least 6 months road tax.
- Pay Gramps £120 £20/£120 saved.
Ignoring actual work because I'm not in the mood. Can't wait to get home and Fly-Cinny! I've decided to rebrand it seeing how I don't really understand the name anyways
Will add the followness to my blog too, I haven't had a proper chance to sort it on an actual computer! - Done and done!0
