Getting a Grip on 2013

I have the same problem with my Day Zero list - I never got the whole 101 things on there anyway, have completed some and some I just don't want to do anymore. So, the ones I have left I do still want to do have now been added to my new Epic list!
My friend is currently doing 30 before 30 and trying to fit it into 11 months! Working well for me though - I have been roped into teaching her to ride a horse which should be fun. I am also driving fire trucks and combine harvesters with her at the end of March and we are staying in a haunted hotel in September:D
I'm much better at doing other people's lists!Debt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
I didn't buy the book as the reviews said it was only average but the idea got me thinking.
Sounds a bit like Yes Man - loved the idea but didn't enjoy the book at all. I did 28 by 29, I only devised it about two months before my birthday - it had more to do with a break up and trying to stop myself moping than it did with my birthday really. My Day Zero finishes at the end of this year and I've only done 26 things! Need to crack on, I'm now just aiming to get over half the list done (ie 52 things). Sounds like you're having a blast doing other people's lists Beccie!

Sorry everyone! I didn't think many would be interested
but HE GOT THE CONTACT!!! Which means we've both doubled our income, I think we're going to be set now
OH should start seeing the benefits come April which means we're all set for our car bills now, 100%!
Other news is I've been put up to £7 an hour at my family jobI've also been temporarily given 2 more hours a week at my second job.. although I was temporarily given the killer Monday shift almost 3 months ago! But there's been lots of talk about getting another receptionist, and I'm so relieved. I love working there, but the hours and shifts were just stressing me out. I'm taking the a Tuesday evening shift on the week after next, and I'm just not looking forward to it. I feel like I'm away from home enough as it is - I'm such a home body it isn't even funny. I get stressed when the house is messy, stressed that Ryder isn't getting enough attention.. the money is nice but it isn't worth it! And now OH's job is secure it takes the pressure off to take every hour possible. If I can cut my work back how I want to, I'll still be bringing home £225 a week which keeps our plans in check. Will talk to my bosses tomorrow about trading shifts though
feel about 10x less stressed already thinking its almost over :rotfl:
The list sounds awesome, Beccie! I just don't have the attention span for something like that, if I'm brutally honestI hate how well the quote "slave to my whims" fits me..

Fantastic news about the contract! And of course we're interested! :j
Wonderful news that you can cut down on your work a little so you're less stressed, you seem to be working more than a 'proper' full-timer ATM, must be exhausting.Great news about the payrise too! It's all falling into place Casa Cinny!

Thanks everyone!
nice to see OH relaxed and happy in his job, I think after 3 career changes he might have nailed it!
I'm working about 40 hours a week at the moment, and I really don't mind constantly being tired or on the go as long as I can see some kind of end to it. I'll be doing at least 45 hours a week in a fortnight, plus keeping the house in check, making sure there's food in the fridge and walking Ryder for at least an hour a day. All adds up I guess! Will have slayed 46 hours this week. That's fun.
It's annoying though, you'd think with me working more hours than OH he'd step up and do some more housework. I've already asked him to help out more a handful of times. Although one time he cleaned up while I was working and I came home and did it again because it wasn't "right"so that probably put him off..
Anyhow! As of today we have £600 in the EM account. It could be so much better but with working so much I've lost my money mojo! We're still on target, thank muffins. Going to aim to put £100 away each paydaywednesday up till the end of the month, and OH will (hopefully) contribute £200 on his payday. Which lands us at £1000 :j
I think I'll settle our target for next month at the same - £500. After talking to OH last night (romantic Valentine sweet talk of money, whit-woo) and we've decided to try our best to have £2,000 saved by April. Which will mean we aren't relying on OH's commission to pay important bills - as while it's 99% certain, we'd rather not put our Egberts in one basket.
Any plans for the weekend? It's work work work for moi. Surprise surprisewe might go to the city on Sunday for a wander and some lunch, but we'll probably just sleep all day instead.. Lots of lovely walks with Ryder planned if the weather plays nice. Had him out on two walks today between work and it's back to being gorgeous out there! Although he sun tires him out a lot.
