  • I think so - the only vegetables that are banned in the five-day Phase 1 detox are potatoes and mushrooms (a lot of the theory of this diet is around food intolerances, which I don't subscribe to really TBH, so you have to cut out everything that you may be intolerant of and mushrooms are a biggie apparently, feeding candida in your guts - candida is natural but if you 'feed' it it's what causes your sugar and wheat cravings.... I take all of that with a pinch of salt really - I just want to kick start my weight loss!!). Then you go into Phase 2 for continued weight loss and are allowed pretty much everything (non-processed) in any quantity again but you have fat meals and carb meals and they shouldn't be mixed. This sounds the hardest part to me as it's natural to put potatoes on a place with meat! Then Phase 3 is the maintaining phase which is the lifestyle bit. Haven't read too much on this but from what I can see, you're allowed whatever you want, you just have to be sensible - don't cheat too often. Have a choccy bar but not the whole multipack, etc etc :o The kindle book is £4.99 - I've got it on the kindle app on my phone but it's a bit annoying and small!

Eeek I love mushrooms; they're my go-to veg, I chuck them in everything! :) That and spinach. :) Not even sure how I'd manage not mixing fat and carbs, if you're having a carby meal what do you have with your pasta/rice/potatoes etc that won't break the rules?

  • Well exactly. Stir fried veg? I think I'll keep to having carb lunches such as lentil soup or pasta with roast veg and a fat tea of meat and veg. Phase two seems harder as you have more choice but less scope, phase one your options are restricted but you can mix and match as you please!

EDIT - I love mushrooms too! Made sure I had a massive portion of them in my spag bol last night since I'm giving them up for a week!

I lost contact with a lot of people and even family members last year as I'd "changed" and wasn't myself - aka, not a door mat, and they thought I'd changed for the worse when infact I hadn't felt so much like myself in years :)

The tattoos sound awesome! Love that you're using your own writing. Completely agree with the heel turn thing! My family think the same, that I've changed since I've been away but I feel more myself than I ever have! Strange.

Aw thanks girls! :o I've definitely gotten a bit smaller, but I'm still mega squishy. Need to tone up. I'm at that 'looks alright in clothes but not naked' stage! OH reckons I've lost weight since I met him though which is good. 11lbs in a month is great Cinny! Well done! Pilates and yoga are meant to be really good for you. I'd love to do some classes like that but money is gonna be a huge issue.

I was considering doing WW again when I get back but I can't be bothered to be honest! Just gonna eat sensibly, small portions and exercise like mad. Want to focus more on getting toned and fit than losing weight. I'm too excited about English food so I'm sure I'm gonna put weight on when I get back! All I can think about is what I'm gonna eat in my first weeks back. :D Beef roast dinner to start..

Good luck Tete on the Harcombe diet! How much are you aiming to lose? Although, I don't think you need to lose any tbh but girls always tend to think that about other girls! :)

Have to agree with Zig, Tete! It doesn't look like you need to lose anything. But I know how making sure you're the right weight effects your running.

My handwriting isn't great, it's my best birthday card writing for my tattoo! I can't wait for Wednesday now. Was counting sleeps last night! I have my whole sleeve design on hold, but it's with the guy who did my other tattoos. And it will just be so awkward taking them back and saying I'm going somewhere else.. so I might just be a chicken and re-design. Ahem!

Looking at my wages realistically, we're going to be about £110 short of our £500 savings target. Le sigh! If it weren't for my tattoos, or OH's car bills it wouldn't even be happening. I'm a little sulky but like OH said - we still need to live. Not 100% comfortable with that justification, but it is kind of true. I just keep thinking "XX amount of weeks and we'll have too much money to function properly!"

OH has a meeting to secure his big contract next week. He's equal parts excited and nervous, but this is the one with the potential to double if not triple his income so he has a "get out of jail free" card for mood swings. It's not nice, but hopefully this time next week we'll be celebrating!

Took Ryder on a proper walk today. It was so so nice! I can't even put it into words. He zonked out as soon as we got home, so he must of had a good time too. Nice to have my shadow back :) bad part was the wind making tree branches crash down around us. I saw my life flash before my eyes, and it was surprisingly cakey.

It's my 11 hour shift today, but I've got everything done! One hour until home time :) sat doodling and trying to keep off Candy Crush.

Haha you make me sound like a professional runner!! I'm about a stone off my happy weight. I'm so tall that I can put on quite a bit before it's noticeable to anyone else but I can feel it, I feel sluggish and podgy! Day 1 completed successfully, but man did I crave some choccy after my run last night!!

I love pilates Zig! I really miss the classes since we moved to this other office, I bought a DVD but haven't used it yet :o

Fingers crossed for your OH and his big contract!!

Oooh I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for your OH! Will be great if he secures the contract and you'll have millions of dollars! ;)

With the sleeve design... can't you go in and ask for it back as you want to 'alter something' then just never go back with it?! :)

I think it's more that my Bosses (big scary international runners!) training mantras are rubbing off on me. I know far too much about running. You can have bananas and things on this first week, right? You need something like that to balance yourself after a run, although you obviously know that!

OH keeps walking around going "millions of dollars, millions of dollars" but, ain't nobody got time for that ;) Thanks for the well wishes though! I'm keeping the whole world crossed right now.

I couldn't! He's a friend, and while I did the original design he's traced that, taken out details and added others to make it "tattooable". So while it's my idea he's got his mark on it, so I don't think the guy I'm going to tomorrow would feel comfortable touching it. Thing is, with Tattoo Man No 1, he's my Sister's first big Ex. He always used to fit me in with a little discount, but since she's been with her now hubby to be, he's been really hard for me to pin down. I can understand he still has a bit of a flame for her, it's just a shame as I really liked his style. Have a new idea for the sleeve though which I might like more, so maybe it's a blessing :) Will see how this new guy fairs up tomorrow!

Completely skipped the tattoo talk, how rude! Why don't you get something disney style, Birdie? This is really sweet. Or you could get a Cinderella bird! I think an anchor tattoo would be perfect for you though, Tete. What about behind the ear?

Oooh I can get on board with Tete having a little anchor tucked away behind her ear! :)

They're cute tattoos Cinny. :) I was thinking something Disney themed but not too obvious IYKWIM, I like the Ohana one :) If I had loads I'd totally be getting this somewhere! ;)

Laura has 2 disney inspired tattoos - she has ohana on the infinity symbol on her neck and a "blown" dandelion with "I want adventure" on her back ala Belle. I did have a Ray on my sleeve design, might sneak a Pascal onto the next one!

Can't believe it was like a blizzard outside this morning, now it's all sunshine and gorgeousness!
