Your Christmas sounds perfect .
We found it very difficult knowing what to do with my dad after we lost mum. he went to youngest sister the 1st Christmas and hated it as he didn't really like her oh. the next year he went to other sisters but again he hated it as they spend most of Christmas Day in the pub. Ideally I wanted him to come to ours but again he would have hated it. We had 3 teens at home at the time so our house was always messy, noisy and chaotic and he would never have been comfortable as we have coal fire with back boiler, not ver good heating, drafts etc. in the end he has Christmas on his own at home where he was comfortable, warm and had his own routine. He is now having his 2 nd Christmas in the care home.
Mum is on her own for the first time this year, she had invited a friend over, but the friend is now saying that there is flooding near her and if she lives her home she is afraid she won't get back!
I did tell her to get on a train to us, but she can't face noise and mess at the best of times.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Well not perfect maybe but I am determined to have a good one. This last year hasn't been the best for our family. In fact it's been a bleeding nightmare at times! But we seem to be turning the corner now so it onwards and upwards for us:)
We found a total of 23 odd socks cleaning the kids rooms ( it has to be an odd number, doesn't it:rotfl:) we also found a trainer that doesn't belong to anyone here, half an Easter egg and most bizarrely an action man dressed in one of barbies dresses:cool::rotfl:, no one would admit to that one0 -

Eldest child is in London on a weekend away due to get the only train home in about an hours time, now getting very nervous about this I think I will only settle when I know she is on this train.
Most of the day either doing more wrapping or I've been trying to clean up so its ready for inspection when eldest child does finally get home. I also had to empty my suitcase, really hate doing this job and it puts me in a bad mood.
The tree and lights are up but so far no tree decorations up. Apparently this is also my job as well as everythin else
Oh has spent the afternoon on the sofa watching top gear :mad:
do what i do and trip the eletric at the fuse box or if im realy :mad: ill cut the plug off after turning plug off (hes an electrition so cost noting to fix)
hope your child gets home safe and soon0 -

And talking of awful Christmases here is another one of ours.
My mil had been widowed for a number of years as fil died in his 60s. One year she asked if she could come to us for Christmas, not for the whole day, mainly for lunch and the afternoon as she had to get back to the dogs. This was the 1st time this had ever happened, very unusual request but I don't suppose she had much other choice as other family lived abroad. I was really dreading it as she had always loathed and detested me, just about tolerated my oh as his brother was the favourite child. She wasn't really interested in our kids, again she preferred bills kids.
Anyway Christmas Day came and she was on her best behaviour and everything went off well, it all turned out to be a really nice christmas and she seemed to enjoy herself and it was a good day and after tea she went home to see to the dogs.
that was her last Christmas. The hospital tests she had in December, not unusual as she was always having tests for one thing or another, quite enjoyed ill health, came back and she had various cancers. By mid Jan she was almost housebound and totally depended on us for things like shopping and driving her places. she went into hospital in March and died a few weeks later.“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
