Evening everyone. Oh yesterday was so nice!

Mrs P and I had four hours in the spa, 2 course meal, towel and robes included, one massage and one other treatment at Therma Spa Bath. http://www.thermaebathspa.com/

Overnight in the Hilton at Bath and a three course meal at La Tasca.

Mrs P even wanted to go to the outdoor spa on the roof even though it was cold outside. Amazingly, once your in you don't feel the cold air till you stand up!!!

To be fair mate, some of us have further up to go than others, you gargantuan softie :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Glad you both enjoyed yourselves.

Flower I tend to be a posh looking businessman type...when I shave that is :o You are right that there is a group who enjoy making others feel like "less" than they are, but I'm betting you've never been complained about for being a stroppy begger of a staff member? I guess there are good and bad on both side of the proverbial (and actual) till :)

Anyone else still got snow at work while not at home?
This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.

Hope you're feeling better Ruby! :(

Our snow was weird yesterday NIM; it was a couple of inches deep at 7.30, next time I looked outside at 9.30 it was all gone! It was really freaking cold though, my plans to pop to town for paint were scuppered as I was too frozen to leave the flat! ;o

Flower, I did a stint working in a shop when I was younger and agree about some people looking down on you but always found (and still do on the other side of the counter) that the shop assistant's behaviour can be mirrored by the customer. Miserable shop workers make me feel miserable and I struggle to be cheerful when they're sucking the life out of me as they're chucking my stuff at me and barking how much I owe, whereas cheery people make me smile back at them even if I don't feel like it. Good on you for sticking to the cheery side of the spectrum, and being recognised for it! :)

OH has just sent me a text to say '3 years since we got engaged!', I told him it's actually 4 and he said 'I know, just didn't want to make you feel old!' :rotfl:

Birdie how sweet is your OH!

Our snow was weird yesterday too. When DH left for work he said it was snowing but not sticking. That was 8am. By the time we had left for coffee morning at 9.30 there was at least 2inches on my car! By 12o'clock midday it was all gone!

I always take FOREVER getting my bags and purse together at the till when the assistant doesn't help me pack. Passive aggressive, moi? :D

Thank you ladies for making me laugh this morning, and bless your OH Birdie! Happy engagement anniversary!

I totally overslept this morning, I had to run downstairs to wish OH happy Valentine's day before he left for work, of course he had forgotten about it altogether so I needn't have worried! My windscreen wipers then stopped working on the way to work resulting in a couple of hairy moments, but after yesterday I have decided to give up complaining for Lent, so won't say any more on that subject! ;)

I always found when dealing with customers that if you were super chirpy to the rude ones it disarmed them and was way more satisfying! I worked at a tourist attraction for many years, and I couldn't believe how many rude and grumpy people we used to get (not to mentioned being physically threatened on more than one occasion by both sexes) - why not just stay at home and be grumpy?! I used to do a lot of customer service training as well which is probably why it's such a bugbear of mine!

    Hope you're feeling better Ruby!

    Yes, and Dickensian fog too.

I am going to give the other side to the shop staff comments. As a sales assistant I have many a days where I have rude customers non stop and some who make it perfectly clear they think they are above me and so much better than me because I work for minimum wage in a shop (posh looking business men are the worst for this!).

I totally agree Flower, I always think you can spot people who have ever worked as a shop assistant/waitress/barmaid a mile off by how they treat other shop assistant/waitress/barmaids now (using feminine forms because we're mostly girls but this applies to men too). I agree with Birdie that it's tempting to mirror other people's behaviour whatever side of the till you're on, but quickly found that it's better to be uber cheerful and you find most people will at least say thank you then!

Hope you feel better soon Ruby!! x

Tee hee, god knows I'm struggling with motivation too! Must be the time of year... Glad you had a chat with your boss, Birdie, hope it helps some :)

I've served my time in retail/behind bars and enjoyed it on the whole - it's a bit like an acting job, really. I definitely smiled more and more sweetly the more someone was acting like an !!!!!!!. Silly people!

Just realised that made me sound like I've actually been in prison. I haven't :p

Agreed :) I like to think I am quite good at putting a smile on my face no matter what when I get to work.
You are all right though, it annoys the rude customers even more if your overly nice and quite often you can tell they feel really stupid for being so rude.

    Happy Friday folks! :j

Half day for me, then not back in 'till Wednesday- hooray! It's our anniversary on Monday and we're having a big blow out by going to watch the new Die Hard then having dinner and drinks at our favourite restaurant- that's how we roll! :D Not sure what else we'll get up to, just be nice to spend some time together. :)

I hadn't planned to take this afternoon off but I've had to book an emergency hair appointment to fix the dye-saster that is my hair! :( My friend got carried away lightening my tips and my hair now goes from dark brown straight to bright yellow- it's freaking hideous! Not impressed that I've got to spend £50 getting it put right! I didn't even want to dye it again in the first place but my friend kept going on and on about it so I let her loose on me to shut her up. Going to have to tell her to find a new Girl's World to play with! :p

Has anyone else got nice weekend plans? :)
