Hope you have better luck tonight, Birdie! What colour are you going for? Glad you're feeling a little better after the talk, too
You don't sound like you're whinging, Shrimpy! Moving house is stressful. Redecorating is stressful. Planning a wedding is stressful. But all at once?! You're allowed to feel a little pushed under by it all. Hope the outcome of the "sit down" isn't too horrific!
Talking of home improvements I'm itching to just do something in our house. There's nothing wrong with any of the rooms really - they just need sprucing up! Like new bedding in our room, new wallpaper in the living room, re-painting the kitchen, I'm obsessed with getting a key hanger for the hallway and I don't even know why. Going into town today so this could be dangerous.0 -
Nothing too exciting for the bathroom I'm afraid, going for a neutral creamy colour since OH isn't mad on coloured walls. Just want to cover the mould stains and the signs of general wear and tear really. Although I'd love, at some point, to do gloss stripes/pattern in the same colour on one wall (I mean something like this) just to add a little va-va-voom to a very boring room!
I have the feeling that *something* needs to be done in all of our rooms too Cinny! OH doesn't really see the point as it is perfectly fine, but everything could do with a repaint and we need lots of finishing touches here and there to make it move from fine to great.Got my eye on some bedroom furniture which is currently on sale, have to mention it to OH when he's in a good mood.
Agree with the shopping comments too. Last night the woman serving never even thought to apologise for the wait and she threw a bag at me when I dared say I required one and watched me struggle to get everything in it without bothering to help. I have to say that it does tend to be the cheap shops with the worst staff, though I guess they go hand-in-hand, there must be a reason why they're cheap! There's one lad in one of our cheap shops who is lovely and super helpful, I was half tempted to tell the manager how good he is but then I realised that the useless lazy bloke I don't like in there *is* the manager and the only reason that 1 good guy stands out is because the rest are so rubbish!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

I always take FOREVER getting my bags and purse together at the till when the assistant doesn't help me pack. Passive aggressive, moi?Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Re cheap shop staff, Boyes staff tend to be awesome. Really helpful and happy. Mind you the average age of a boyes lady seems to be 97 so that might have something to do with it.This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0

Aw NIM, that's 'my' shop! Worked there all through school (once I turned 15!), college and some of uni. I found most customers so miserable that the only way I didn't become a miserable old hag myself was by being overly cheerful - fake it til you make it!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

Agreed, Boyes staff do tend to be lovely but I think that's down to a) them working there their entire lives and b) it's a family run company so I think there's a bit of brand pride there.
Worst offenders in my town are Home Bargains. Oh my goodness, they're the real dregs of retail society there. _pale_

:rotfl: glad I'm not the only one then! I do this especially if I'm doing the shopping at work and the assistant can see I have one/two gents with learning disabilities with me and they still just throw everything down the belt at top speed. I take AGES packing just to make a point! A bit of help and/or taking their time scanning items wouldn't kill themGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
I am going to give the other side to the shop staff comments. As a sales assistant I have many a days where I have rude customers non stop and some who make it perfectly clear they think they are above me and so much better than me because I work for minimum wage in a shop (posh looking business men are the worst for this!).
Whilst I do try to be nice and polite to all customers, even to those that are being rude, sometimes you do get completely ground down by people.
Having said that I quite often have customers telling my manager how polite and helpful I amwe do have a lot of regular customers as well who we get to know and like.

Aww I used to love going int Boyes when I was at uni. The ladies in the haberdashery department were so helpful when we had to make costumes for fancy dress nights!
Got most of the way to work this morning before I decided that I was too ill to actually go in. Been shivering and achy and nauseous for days and just had enough of it this morning. OH decided to surprise me with valentines roses a day early which has made me feel slightly better. Still wrapped up in the duvet on the sofa. Evening everyone. Oh yesterday was so nice!
Mrs P and I had four hours in the spa, 2 course meal, towel and robes included, one massage and one other treatment at Therma Spa Bath. http://www.thermaebathspa.com/
Overnight in the Hilton at Bath and a three course meal at La Tasca.
Mrs P even wanted to go to the outdoor spa on the roof even though it was cold outside. Amazingly, once your in you don't feel the cold air till you stand up!!!0
