Reading about The Yorkshire 3 Peaks this morning, and got tempted to do it for Mcmillan Cancer Research. Would love to do it as they helped my grandad, and this way NIM and I would be doing fundraising for different charities this year rather than both for the neonatal unit, but I would hate to do it alone. Hmm, will think.
Hmm who do we know who likes walking in hills and has an interest in cancer charities....??? :idea:The Y3P is totally on my Day Zero list - when are you thinking of doing it?
Cinny, I have no idea on the Etsy! It seems one of those things that, once you've generated a few sales, they just keep coming, but it's hard to get going in the first place, you know? I'm sure there are tips threads on here somewhere?! Also, I haven't updated my thread in forever, I just keep coming on here for the chat
Thanks for the cheerleaders Lara!!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
I had a nice sale through Etsy this month, but it's really slow going, I certainly haven't cracked the marketing thing. Can I see your shop Cinny?
I think it's a case of being at the right place at the right time for it, right? It's nothing amazing. Just stoneware and drawingsHere it is!
3 Peaks would be good! Scary, but good! Be pretty amazing if two threadies went together
I'm in for another challenge! January stopped at 81 as I don't have anything else to de-junkAll the rooms are tidy, no junk anywhere. I guess that's the real goal rather than getting to the magic 100 mark but still. Would have been nice!

I really like your drawings. I think you have something there. Do you mind me asking how you do the baking and glazing on the plates? Looks like a lot of fun!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

It's pretty simple! Get a plate/bowl/whatever with a low glaze. Attack with sharpie markers. Put in a cold oven, get the temp up to 180deg, bake for 30 minutes and turn the heat off. Leave the plates to cool in the oven. As long as you handwash them it doesn't budge0 -
Your plates are really cool Cinny! You should make some more like the retro lady one, like tattoo-sleeve-randomly-patterned kind of stylee IYKWIM!
I've got some sharpies and a plain white mug that I've been meaning to experiment with since before Christmas but my mind goes blank every time I look at it!

Seems like as good a time as any as to announce the Feb challenge - Fantabulous February. I can't think of a better adjective beginning with F, I was going to go with Fertile to mean growth and new, but I didn't think it was suitable really. So, the idea is for the month of February to have a personally focused challenge, to sew the seeds of creation and happiness and inspire others. Examples of things are trying a new recipe, making a card, knitting a scarf, but also you can count actions done to improve the world for others such as a random act of kindness, signing up for a charity event or making a game up for your children that you wouldn't normally (something you maybe read in a blog or pinned as a great idea but have never got around to doing it?). In this dark and dreary month this challenge is here to get your creativity flowing and to live a little differently. We have lots of crafty types on the thread, but this is for everyone not just to wield the prit stick, but to inspire you in other areas. And to encourage one another and share ideas and creativity - post pictures on the thread! You can link through to your blog, bbcgoodfood, or whatever if there are instructions for others to follow who you might have inspired to follow in your footsteps.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Hi
Just sticking my nose in again but with regards to going back to work have you looked into a possibility of going on sick leave for another 6 months to help with the costs of staying home and looking after Grace and then trying the part time route.
As I've said before a lady in my office did that after her little girl was born with a heart condition and she had to be off for a further year with her.

Tete - I would be honest about the appointment. It's not your fault that your colleague is sick. The very best of luck with the interview. I bet you will sail through it xxx
Dinah - sorry to hear about your money problems. When are due back to work? It sounds like you have it well sorted out in terms of childcare for Grace, and brilliant that your employers will let you take annual leave for that amount of time. Did you enquire about parental leave as well?Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
