thanks, haven't picked it up yet though because the sellers are on holiday.
my techno was the previous year's colour too so i got a discount on it. i think they were 170 but mine was 120 from mothercare and i used a 10% off code i found on here which more than covered the postagei don' know when they change the colours, i got mine in feb 2006 and it was the 2004 colour, but the 2006 colour wasn't in the shops yet. just looked on the mothercare site but there are no techno bargains.
the century travel system that's been posted is ever so cheap. i saw it in the argos catalogue for £100.'bad mothers club' member 13

Hello - Sorry - I didn't say that the car seat also sits upright for in the car - it's better explained by this link

Personally - I wouldn't use it lying flat in a car if I had one.So little money - so much time :mad:0 -
It might be worth having a look at the Graco CITI range. We had a Citisport which was very compact but had a very large shopping basket underneath which was ideal for trips out and about. It folded flat, the mechanism can be operated with one hand, and it fitted in the boot of our Fiesta. They are quite an inexpensive range compared to some, but it lasted well although little one did outgrow it when he was about 2 and a half (but he is very tall for age). It was also very lightweight and could be lifted easily with one hand, so great for manovering on and off buses whilst carrying baby.0

The Matrix is not the best car seat on the market, RoSPA and Which have both condemned it - I believe there was a crash test video of this seat on the Which website, which showed the baby being ejected from the seat when it was crash tested in the lying flat position. It is also a very large seat and is very upright when fitted, there are much better car seats on the market for a lot less money.
THe Matrix scored only 10% from Which due to the fact that it is deadly in event of a crash.

The best buys for newborns are the Britax Cosy Tot Isofix, the Britax Cosy Tot Premium and the Maxi Cosi Cabriofix.
The Cosy Tot Premium, which costs about £90, and which will last until one year old, seems like the best buy, as the other two cost about £200.0 -
Hi
I support Rio's suggestion of the Graco City. I was told by my sister to buy one, and have not regretted in a bit. As a baby it reclines full, fits in the boot of my sciento, and I can lift the buggy plus baby up a full flight of steps if necessary. A friend also has one, as she needed a buggy she could close with one hand. Still going stong now - DD number 2 is nearly two
I also bought a second hand 2in1 pram which was ace when out walking - lived fairly close to town. There was plenty of space for little one to strech out or he could sit up. I also had loads of room to carrythings. The seat was also rear facing so we could chat.
However it was very heavy and did not fold well. and I sometimes struggled in smaller shops and cafes.
I was also advised that if you have a bad back etc never to carry the baby in the car seat - which I found the little Graco great for as I would just pop him in the buggy -which would then fit fine is shops etc.
With DD2 I did think a clip on travel system would be good as she would be asleep whe I wanted to go out/in with DS1
Mostly you need to think about what you will get up to - most of my NCT class spent a fortune on top of the range prams/travel systems only to replace them with cheap buggies at 3-4 months.

what about an M&P Pliko pramette http://www.mamasandpapas.co.uk/range.php?id=1965
Try ebay http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll?from=R40&satitle=pliko+pramette
I just went to look at the pramette at the Mamas and Papas store. Mothercare and other shops sell the Silver Cross 3D Pram System, which is basically the same thing
http://www.kiddicare.com/invt/bugslvr3dprmsysmar?No=0&N=40+373 (video demo available)
They both have largeish wheels, with either fixed or swivelling front wheels.
The Mamas and Papas has an integrated buggy board for a todder to stand on.
Both have forward or rear facing pushchair and pram modes.
The Pramette is WHich Best Buy and has won some other awards. THe SIlver Cross 3D has also won various awards (it wasn't reviewed by WHich).
The Pramette is slightly lighter (9.5kg vs 10.3kg). The Silver Cross has padded handles, which are slightly nicer. And the Silver Cross has a slightly nicer 'bed'.
Both are available online for £250.
A slightly cheaper option is the Hauck Infinity for £175, although there's no rain cover, so it's really £195:

I personally bought the Silver Cross 3D.0 -
Maxi-cosi cabrio is available at kiddicare.com for £50 at the moment.
If you can, check out the Eurotest child restraint report on https://www.iam.org.uk there is a report on over 50 car seats covering all age groups - some of them are really frightening - shows that the more expensive seats aren't necessarily the safest. In fact the mothercare travel tot which is only £40 came out better than some top brands.
I didn't have combined travel system when I had my little boy, and now I'm expecting again, I still will be getting seperate pieces - I didn't find it inconvenient at all.0 -
My son is 6mth old and we have Loola set. Originaly we bought M&P Primo Viaggio car seat which was meant to be very good but personaly I didn't like the way he looked all squashed up so bought Loola on ebay. Carseat, carry cot (also fits in a car) and pushchair with rain covers in excellent condition for £200. A bargain! I have to admit car seat is heavy but my DS loves it. The whole thing clips on and off very easy and chassis is easily folded no need to bend down (good for back problems). I would reccommend do you research but allways check ebay before spending money.
p.s. We still have M&P car seat that I'm planning to put on ebay this week. We only used it 3 times so if anyones interested let me know.;)Official DFW Member no:4100
