My daughter bought the M&P Pliko pramette for my grandaughter, it was great when she was first born as she could lay out flat. Now she's 8 months my daughter uses it as a pushchair, I find it very easy to push but would prefer it if it faced towards me so that I could have a conversation with my grandaughter rather than walk along looking like I'm talking to myself :rotfl:.

It is handy being able to clip the car seat onto the pram if baby is asleep but I don't think we've actually used it like that many times and as another poster mentioned it is very heavy, you wouldn't want to walk very far with an 8 month old in it.

All in all I still think this is a good all round buggy.

    Really ?

I had plikos, and my son was in it til he was gone 2 ( and was quite big for his age ) ,and even then i didnt find it too heavy to push

i think they are a fab compromise between a pram and a lightweight buggy / stroller :)

Sorry phrased that wrong lol, I meant you wouldn't want to carry the car seat very far with an 8 month old in it, if my daughter can't park outside the house and has to carry it down the road its quite a weight. The buggy is lovely to push.
  • I personally think travel systems are a bad idea.

Its better for a baby to not be in a car seat all day when out shopping etc, with a travel system, the temptaion is to let a sleeping baby sleep by cliping it on the buggy. They are not supposed to be in a carseat for any longer then 20 minutes at a time.

I would go for a Maclaren Techno and a combination carseat rather then an infant carrier. The Techno lies flat and the Classic comes with cosytoes and a headhugger making it very snug for a new born, even a tiny one!

The combi carseat will last until they are 4 years old. If they dont fit your car, then get a infant carrier that fits your car.

    :o :rotfl: sorry

yes definitely ! it was heavy to carry when my son was only about 4 months old ! was fab to put it on the pram chassis or pliko when popping into a shop for 5 etc though :)

But agree with DA in that they shouldnt be used all day / every day :( though you can get the lie flat infant carrier type car seats

saw a baby who was sitting up  in the infant carrier part of the travel system, which was attached to the pushchair part in town the other day  whats that all about ?! lol

What about a Jane ? There's the Slalom and the Powertrack 360. A friend bought one and you can buy the Matrix lie flat car seat that clips onto it . The advantage of this car seat means that you can recline it if that baby is going to be out and about. I think you can buy a carry cot as well. You'd need to check if it can fit in your boot though.

So little money - so much time
  • i'm after a bigger pushchair for days out and i've become a buggy stalker as mentioned earlier in the thread :D i keep seeing a certain pram at alton towers and envying the big shopping basket and it's a brand mothercare don't sell so i can't actually look at it locally in the shops.

my maclaren techno XT seems to have everything, and everyone says it lasts until they don't need a pram anymore. i can hang bags off the handles (but i use buggy weights called tip me not to stop it tipping) and the hood has pockets to store the rain cover and other bits and bobs. i have to put the handles down to the lowest setting before it will fit in my mum's car boot though, she has a polo or golf, i can't remember which.

my child is enormous, he's the size of a 3 year old (he's going to be 6ft 6) but because he's still one he has an afternoon nap. he's not comfortable in the techno for sleeps and that's the only reason i'm looking for another pram. if he wasn't a giraffe this would have lasted until he was 4 and walking to school, l i love my techno :D i only want the larger shopping basket in the second pram because i always get loaded down with the bags and coats of everyone else when we go to theme parks - the techno is fine if i was just going out with the baby or a couple of people.

i've just bought my second pram but i won't bore you with the details because it's too big for your car. i bought off ebay and it's a local collection so there's no postage charge. some people just buy lots of prams, or they have a spare at the grandparents house that's hardly been used. ebay or the local paper is great for prams which are almost new.

The carseat isnt as safe as it could be in a car because it lies flat. It is better for a baby in a crash to be in a 'normal carseat' position then flat. It doesnt support the baby enough if there was a crash to happen.

i was cheeky and asked the pram owner. i thought people might get annoyed if i just stared at their pram/child. mine was on a ride at the time so i was childless and might have looked dodgy :o

then i looked up the different models of that pram on the manufacturers website to see which pram had all the features i wanted, and bought one on ebay hardly used for a 5th of the full price. it's 'last year's colours' lol!
