Question from hubby - see these new Smart tvs, we're looking at a Samsung with built in freeview and freesat - can you connect a video recorder to it via a SCART socket? Have they got SCARTs ? Or if not, then how do you do it?

it will say in the tech data if they have scarts. Most do as far as I know.
Will this be just for watching old videos that you have?0 -
look on maker's website, look on retailers' websites, go into stores and ask to see the back of any set you're interested in.0

Ok ty - we haven't been out to look at tvs yet because of the snow but will do. Yes its for his videos - mainly John Bl**dy Wayne!!! :eek:0

As said, find the model you like and have a look at it instore or the spec online.
I think scarts are fading out gradually. My TV is around 12 months old and has 1 scart socket (whereby you used to get 3 or 4)0 -
Our Samsung Smart TV doesn't have a Scart socket as such, but included in the box is an adaptor that takes a scart plug and goes into one of the many inputs on the back. So that's basically yes.
Works fine with our ageing not-blueray-or-anything-fancy-like-that-bog-standard DVD player.

Ok last question honest. And its the husband asking, not me anyway
He wants to know if you can use a Smart TV on Freesat, without the box? Can you plug the Sky dish directly into the tv without going through the box? (Samsung tvs come with built-in Freesat). 0 -

Yes if you plug a cable from your dish to the connector at the back of the telly,[STRIKE]( but beware of virusesOk last question honest. And its the husband asking, not me anyway

)[/STRIKE]struck out because that relates to a different thread about TVs and viruses ...sorry
Edited: Not all samsung TV's (smart or not) can connect to Satellite feeds directly
Edited again: Tireless aren't I , but Freesat is the EPG, not the feed so you should be able to watch channels on the Satellite that aren't on the Freesat epg platform , but you have to manually tune them4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex .
