Hi mrsMP and a belated welcome to MFW!
I also try and meal plan although at the moment we're going day to day for a change while we are off work. I do a strorecupboard challenge in January and am currently trying to wade through leftovers!

  • Hi Jellie It's lovely when people drop in makes me feel I'm not talking to myself. I will be making a list of all my food to meal plan in a couple of days time. My Mum is staying with us and I take her back tomorrow afternoon, after dong a nice Sunday roast. My fridge is full I have a fridge freezer and a small chest freezer out in the garage. Will not need to buy much for a few weeks only possibly this lovely chocolate liqueur I had at my friends.
I am off to look at bed frames this afternoon ours has been repaired beyond repair now it is 28 years old. My son has broken his bed so were going to use some of the wood to repair his. Will let you know how we get on later. This is the only extra expense I can see for the next two months. Want so much to save as much as possible to reduce the mortgage. Have a good day everyone.

good luck with the menu planning. I think it makes sense in a variety of ways. Makes your £ go further, and makes the evenings easier as you don't have to think. Good uck Tilly x

  • Thanks Tilly meal planning will definitely help to save a few £ and time.
Yesterday we brought a new bed frame one with storage underneath so it will look neater than it does at the moment with things stuck under the bed. It comes Tuesday so some sorting out is required tomorrow.
Took my Mum home his afternoon dropping into my cousins on route for a cuppa.
On the Mse front haven't meal planned yet but have started clearing the fridge of half opened pots of cream etc. today or lunch we had some of the gammon joint in the fridge enought left over for another day. Made cheesy ash and had broad beans from the freezer. Made a stew with the remaining turkey 5 portions and made a raspberry and white choc cheesecake. Also made banana custard using up all the over ripe bananas. Have also made some broccoli and Stilton soup for lunch tomorrow. Tomorrow will make a baileys cheese cake and chicken Korma to use up the remains of several pots of cream.
Yesterday I only brought milk and bread and turnips for my stew. Have a few things to get at the end of the week.
Will try and pop on tomorrow but if not a very happy new year to everyone.

  • Had a fairly quiet day today. Took back 3 tops I brought my son for Xmas as he didn't like any of them so have no given him the money. Will be doing that instead next year.
Took one of my cats to the vets as he has a skin infection of sorts £109 and has to go back in 2 weeks. Hopefully he will be better. I do have pet insurance so it's not too bad.
Dropped my daughter off who is going out for a meal with her friend and her parents. I think the rest of us are having take away as a New Years Eve treat.
Got paid my bonus this month due from the summer so have put this straight into my mortgage overpayment saving fund. £410 transferred.:T
Happy and Healthy New Year to everyone.

  • Happy New Year everyone. Have had a busy couple of days the new bed arrived its damaged so replacement coming in a weeks time. Did an online shop with tes@os for£73 and popped into Mr A and spent £24. This needs to last as long as possible. Both freezers are full still using up contents of fridge.
Going to write a meal plan tomorrow and update.
Took the decorations down yesterday and put up in the loft. We all are coming down with colds so had to buy more tissues and tablets.
Paid £40 into my savings account and will add balance to signature tomorrow.

  • A few days since I have posted. Picked car up on Friday and took it for its mot. It passed luckily and I brought 2 tyres for it before it went.
A quite weekend no spends as such. Today so far I have put £30 of fuel in the car. Have to take my cat back to the vets this afternoon hopefully it won't be too bad. I do have insurance though.
