Thanks lulabella1 I am fine no injuries thankfully. Well I ended up catching the bus on Saturday to town and back. Only spent £5.60. Can't carry a lot so that helps on the money saving front. Stayed in Sunday. Scrounged lifts off of friends to work as I work an our away from home and no public transport available. Hopefully should find out when I get a hire car tomorrow. My poor little car is being collected to be taken to the garage tomorrow. Day off tomorrow so buses again to go to town.

Hi Mrs Money Penny, sorry to hear about the car but good news about hire car.

Menu planning has been a godsend for us and really has cut our costs.

Good luck with your journey and having a diary really helps the focus.

    Best wishes Tilly

Yesterday had lunch out again as it was the last day in work. So £6.50 spent. Today off to get the last of the Xmas food mainly chilled things. Will update later. Then have to clean like a mad woman to get house up together to be finished by Xmas Eve. Have a good day everyone.

  • Just caught up on your thread and will subscribe. Good luck with your MF challenge!

With reference to your car, it's amazing what you CAN do without one. I did not have a car for years until I met my wife and did not want one. We only have one car now between us and to be honest if we didn't live in such a semi-rural area, I would seriously consider getting rid of it. They are an expensive bane in my experience and although undoubtedly useful, I question of they ever earn their keep.

Glad to see you using the buses though - more users, more profits for bus company, and better services follow. I use the bus all the time and although not always the most salubrious form of transport its generally reliable and cheap!

Hi Southerndave I agree cars are an expensive item. They lose money and need money spent on them. We have two cars as we both work an hour away with no buses on route. We used to only run one car when I worked local. Hope some time in the future only to have one. I regularly contribute to the local bus and train services. My son and daughter attend colleges and I spend about £240 a month on their travel.
Have stayed away from the shops since Xmas and ave only brought half price wrapping paper and cards for next year. Town was far to busy and has put me off even bothering next year.
Pay day Monday so will sort out my accounts and get ready for the mfit challenge. Can't wait.
