Hi,
Im Thinking of getting a new mobile contract from Phones4U
D900, £9.99 per month for 11 months and £330.11 Cashback at month 6. Which make the overall cost £150.
http://www.phones4u.co.uk/shop/shop_contract_details.asp?itemkey=159129&mpitemkey=165915
I know by going via Quidco, i will be able earn £60 through a new contract phone purchase.
By this method the overall cost of the phone will be £90 with 500 text & mins.
Could sum1 tell me how to sign up for this??
Also i would wish to know how they pay you and if they pay up at all (what are the risks???)
Is it a garanteed pay out..
Thanks for your help in adavance, Much appreciated ~1

1 off chequeback after 6 months which just requires you to send your 6th mobile phone bill in along with the redemption form, pretty good deal to be fair.0

Phones4U have one of the worst rating for actually giving you the cashback - be warned and research first! Carphone Warehouse are much more reliable...MFW #185
Mortgage slowly being offset! £86,987 /58,742 virtual balance
Original mortgage free date 2037/ Now Nov 2034 and counting :T

Please can you back this statement up with, well, with something, EagerLearner. Phones4u do not feature on any of the polls on this website. Are you thinking of e.g. Phones2u?
Phones4U do not have much stick for cashback reliability, as far as i am aware....0 -

Yep - Phones2U are bad - sorry, they all sound the same! If you research and find no bad comments about Phones4U maybe it's worth it, but only if you find lots of good ones too. Mr EL had quite a bit of hassle, and he's woth CPW who are reportedly the 'easiest'... good luck!MFW #185

I'm tempted by this deal too.
I've read a few posts on Phone4U Cashback and most are negative. However none refer to this new type of cashback. I'm thinking they may have got their act together and simplified the cashback process.
Cashback conditions are that you send in 1st and 6th month bill no later than month 7 - this make it impossible to confuse which bill to send in as you can't send the 7th bill within 7 months of connection. So it's one cashback at month six.
of course that doesn't mean they'll pay up. It just makes it a lot harder for them to refuse on breach of any terms and conditions.
any thoughts?
Question - Has anyone bought a vodafone contract from phone4u and ported their number from orange to it? phone4u website says it can't be done.
thanks.0 -
Stay well clear of them. My 1st claim, I had to keep chasing them and only paid up when I threatened legal action.
My second claim was rejected on the grounds that I only sent the 1st page of the bill. They made sure they only told me after 21 days so I had no chance to send the other pages. I dont see why they need to look at my itemised phone numbers because thats what the other pages are.
So they have cheated me out of 8 months line rental ie £45 per month means I have been cheated out of £360.
Stay well clear of them. They are a bunch of crooks.0 -
Phones2udirect are conmen. Phones4U are fine, I think people have got the two confused.0

Phones4u only excpet original bills...not internet bill printouts or photocopies as with cpw...so can be a prob if you dont recieve the correct phonebill from your operator in time (has happened to me).
Spoke to a guy from phones4u about it and he said that they may be flexible in that situation...but then i said that how would they no if i was lying and threw away the bill...to whaich he admitted that they would assume that i was lying to kep their money...so not flexible.
But if you get your bill...then no prob at all...is a good deal...plus a one off payment makes thing easier than doing it every few months.0 -
From our experience – the Phones4U group cannot be trusted !
They are part the 4U group of companies that includes Cool New Mobile, Phone Box Direct, ClickaFone and 3Mobilephones so I will also avoid these other parts of that group.
Prior to taking a phone from Phone4U we had been with a Carphone Warehouse owned mobile company for two years and they sent the cash back promptly when it was due. (There were a few hoops to jump through but it all went well).
Since we prefer Vodaphone, at the end of last year three of us signed up with Phones4U and we now see that as a mistake.
Since November 2006 we have been sending in the forms in the same way, with the original bills, recorded delivery within the three week period and we received the first two out of the five cashback payments that are payable. (The first two payments took much longer to arrive than their advice period indicated but these cheques did eventually arrive).
Today we received a letter informing that the form for the third payment claim form had been incorrectly filled in and for that reason we would not be receiving any of the remaining cash back payments. (The third form was filled in exactly the same way as had the first two forms which they had checked, processed and paid. I Photostatted all the forms and papers that I sent to them and there is no difference between them).
I phoned them today expecting them to say that they had made an error and that they would rectify it but they took the completely opposite view.
I am left with the conclusion that they cannot be trusted.
I will be writing to their complaints section but I do not hold out much hope, I have spoken with Trading Standards and plan to make a complaint via them.
We sent everything in on time, recorded delivery, in separate envelopes, etc. and still they invent a ruse to wheedle out of their commitments.0 -

Phones4U? Are you sure?
Not dealt with any of the above, but we've always had an excellent service from Phones4U :TYou're Damned If You Do & You're Damned If You Don't :doh:0
