One of the conditions for multiroom is that all the boxes must remain plugged into the phone line even after the 12 months. This is so sky can have them ring home every now and then to check they all remain at the subscribers address.
Another godd resource for Sky queries is the Digital Spy forum.

Sky run a monthly test, telling each of your Digiboxes to phone the Sky computer. Takes about 2 seconds during the night - you won't even notice it.

When the computer fails to get a callback it tries again. When that fails it sends you a warning letter then tries again after a couple of weeks. If that fails, your subscription changes from "multiroom" to the full amount.

    On my travels

It seems to me by using Sipgate it is possible to have a Manchester, London, Birmingham number in more than 1 location. In other words a number like 020 8131 9900 could be in my office in London and my home address in Manchester. If a call is recieved the phone will ring in London & Manchester. I believe SKY use caller ID to make sure the number is the same for multi room. In theory at least, it is possible to have that 020 8131 9900 number in Spain. There is no EU law being broken here. It is just a case of not abiding by SKY's terms & conditions. If they find out they can indeed suspend the service or charge you extra. Unfortunately for me, I have not got ADSL in Spain and I don't believe it is possible to use VOIP without it.

    EDIT.

Say for example I was deaf and wanted SKY, are you telling me I would need a telephone line for multiroom. Disgusting

This is why I am unsure about SKY. I just don't like their ethos

If I sign up with SKY with Multiroom I am compelled to have a telephone line. How dare they!!! I understand, as things stand why they insist on this, but surely this is pretty invasive. They make enough money, why not find another way around this. I'm considering ordering a TV service from them not a telephone service. Next they will be telling their customers a condition of having multiroom is you can't have Broadband with company x, y or Z.

    EDIT

Say for example I was deaf and wanted SKY mulitroom. I would need to pay BT £11.00 per month to suit SKY. Disgusting

It's not illegal to view abroad at all, same way we in the UK can view 1000s of channels that come from Spain, Germany, The Netherlands, France, Russia, Croatia, Belgium etc etc.

However it is often against Sky's T&C, as some programmes Sky have only bought UK and Ireland rights to them.

Yes, I know you work for Sky, from previous posts/threads.

And yes they don't have the rights to broadcast outside the UK and Ireland, but that doesn't make viewing the channels illegal, just against your terms and conditions.
