i am very mixed on value items some are as good as branded and well worth buying as sometimes they are quite a saving compared to even a shops own lable but some are downright disgusting
i will be honest there is a few things i will not buy
pasta sauce, crisps, butter spreads, nappies and wipes, bread, washing powder(unless its for cleaning with), cheese, squash, pop, rice krispies, weetabix, to name but a few
value meat i draw the line at sausages etc but have ate there mince and chicken when on a tight budget food time sometimes you have to be prepared for a bit more fat etc comeing off the meatDFW nerd club number 039'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts' :money: i will be debt free aug 2010

Thanks to this site, I am now a canny shopper and look around for bargains. However, sometimes buying the cheaper brand is a false economy.
One thing that I won't buy the cheaper version of is bread, tried buying cheaper, but it was horrible. I do make my own sometimes, but DH prefers that awful doughy shop bread.
What is everyone else's false economy ?You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Mine would be Coffee, Olive Oil & Tomato Ketchup.0

I am really funny about sausage meat, other than that I'm pretty open to try lesser expensive foods......0

Sometimes the value item can end up costing more than the normal one. Asda's value cornflour is more expensive than their normal cornflour. Madness! I've become I bit of a queen at comparing cost per 100g as opposed to just looking at the price per item.0

I have also tried out Asda and Tesco's tinned tomatoes. They are so watery, meaning all my sauces are bland. I find Aldi's tomatoes much better as they come in a thick tomato sauce. They are 21p a tin (I remember the days when they were 14p a tin!)0

Definitely any kind of meat!
I too compare price per 100g.0 -
Toothbrushes. The cheap ones (under a £1)are usually soft and bristles come out in your mouth.0

I go along with the cheap emulsion.............no point when its so watery it needs several coats and I normally end up buying twice as much.
One of those items where you get what you pay for. Pay a bit more and one coat often does the lot.Mary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !
