Asda delivered; insufficient funds - what will they do?

The OP is not a shoplifter and the OP thought there was money in the account we all make mistakes.
There are no favours being done here it's better for them if they do not need to take legal action to recover the money.

It's odd that the direct debit situation has changed twice. And also why it's going to take so long to return the money under the direct debit guarantee.

Of course Asda are doing OP a favour.

They are allowing the OP to delay payment until the OP's financial situation changes.

That's a massive favour in my book.

You are right of course. I think the favour is that ASDA have been so nice about it. Most companies would not take legal action over a small bill but they might be rude or send threatening letters.

What was the alternative ? Send the heavies in there to break the OP's door down or take the OP to court.
The OP has contacted ASDA and said the bill will be paid in January.
Large businesses not do favours they simply see this as the best course of action to take to recover the money owed to them without having to waste too much time and effort.
