Virgin BB /WiFi keeps dropping

I have Virgin cable connected to a Belkin router, and the signal keeps dropping, needing switching off and on etc etc. Becomes a nuisance when it hapens 3 or 4 times a night. I only surf, very rarely downloading, so really no volume problems.
Is this a Virgin issue, an old router maybe, or anything else I haven't thought of? If any technical suggetions, can you point me to a helpful step by step website please!

is it cable or ADSL(BT phone Line)
i would say the Belkin router's wifi is on its way outthere or their,one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff0 -
Firstly, try changing the wireless channel. You may have a neighbour running on the same or overlapping channel.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

The wifi has nothing to do with Virgin. As macman notes, check for local interference (you can get free s/w that will sniff out the available channels so you can see which is best). Failing that, if your equipment allows, a new dual band router will give you more flexibility.0

I have exactly the same problem as you and have had it since July. Virgin keep telling me that my connection is fine and that it is my PC causing the problems. I had my PC checked out when it first started happening and paid an outrageous sum of money to be told that my PC is fine... I borrowed my nephews brand new laptop to see how it went and exactly the same thing happened as with my PC.
I have been back and forth with Virgin with this problem for 6 months and they still insist that it is my PC and can offer no help at all.:mad:
As you can imagine i am now looking into leaving Virgin.:smileyheaMagenta0 -
What I have done is uploaded later Freeware to my Belkin, and am waiting to see what happens. 'Seems' to be quicker, but time will tell regards the signal dropping.O would some power the giftie gie us to see ourselves as others see us.

won't make a difference. I got amazon to replace my router as Virgin said it was to blame.
No dice.
Called virgin, got superhub replaced, works perfectly now.0 -
Visidigi, can I ask who you spoke to that resulted in you getting your superhub replaced, please?
Thanks:beer::smileyheaMagenta0
