Do you have any plans at the moment that you would want the remortgage money for? If you pay off the mortgage you can save the money each month, gain interest on it and pay for whatever you want outright.

thanks Peonie, thats the point, at the moment i dont have any plans! I also thought that saving the £700 extra a month would be a better idea but my colleague got me thinking.

    Friday update time.

Mortgagefreeby50 your op's been added for April.

UnionGirl you posted twice on the update form. I'm guessing it's because I'm so slow at updating ;) and you'd forgotten you'd posted. If you have made 2 payments let me know and I'll update your total.

rockabelle, JCL, saver03 and endoftherainbow your May ops are on along with both of yours southernman. I've put mine down as well. It's due on Monday.

I've updated your last three months newgirly.

lincoln-potter I've added your op & amended your target.

    and another new recruit.

No OP for me this month :( because I need the cash for remortgage fees :)

Dumping the current 4.99% fixed that limited me to £499 OPs a month for a new 2.63% 5-year fixed that allows flexible OPs, drops the payment each month by £60, and I remortgaged for 15 years rather than the 18 the current one had to run, so it has cut three years off the mortgage too :D

Blimey, this remortgage lark takes a while, doesn't it? New mortgage is all approved and fees paid, but still waiting on the conveyancing to be completed - they reckon another two weeks. Was going to make a cheeky OP too so I could get something in the May column :rotfl:
