Question for Humax experts.

I bought an Icecrypt this year just after the Toppy died and it broke down almost immediately, so I asked for a Humax replacement which three months later turned turtle and they gave a me a new one yesterday saying they couldn't repair the broken one - this was all at John Lewis.

Freeview quality is generally poorer than Freesat or Sky. It needs one cable to each room and running two cables to each room is very little extra cost or difficulty.

Satellite cabling is not that expensive or difficult to self install. I recently bought a Zinwell Octo LNB, 50 metres of WF100 cable, cable clips and F connectors on Ebay for under £40 so that I could add a twin tuner Humax Freesat recorder in an upstairs second living room.

I already had a Sky dish with a Quad LNB supplying 3 feeds to the main living room for a Freesat TV and a Sky+ box.

It took me about two hours to swap the LNB and install the new cables.

Don't forget to take off the plastic cover off the front where the Clock is (your remote won't work very well) and I mean behind the flap , it catches many out with that one, enjoy....
