OTs will happily tell me he has sensory processing problems, probably SPD,but we've had nothing with that either. At the moment I can't really go private either as with him now being in school part time my career is majorly on hold!

Diet makes no difference with ds unfortunately and he doesn't eat many carbs,he's a protein fiend -I hate chicken and fish with a passion now:D

Yes, we were lucky that we managed to beg and borrow the funds to get the first private assessment, that was what opened doors - we'd never have got past the Early Years blockade without that assessment 18 months ago, they came in earlier this term and their report to the LA was essentially that there was nothing wrong with him, despite EP, SALT and OT reports to the contrary.

If I won the lottery I would set up a clinic and bring in specialists to do assessments for kids like DS2 who are getting nowhere with LA and NHS provision because the waiting lists are being blocked by people who should know better. (The neighbour I mentioned earlier and I have a long term plan that will hopefully accomplish something along those lines but it's very early stages atm)

Hugs to you all . Reading all your posts has made me count my blessings . My daughter is 14 but not violent . I was sat here feeling very sorry for myself i seem to be doing that a lot just lately : ( Maybe it's because i can't do Xmas this year as my wages and credits dont even cover bills they leave £30wk for food petrol etc Trying to make daughter understand has been tough She got a cheap camera that she need for her school course work for her gcse's in 18mths or so

What i really need a good nights sleep . Melatonin 10mgs just isn't helping anymore . To add to that i'm knackered from work we're 2 staff down at work and there not replacing them and have new manager who throwing her weight around .

Social services and camhs i have always found to be a complete and utter waste of time . The respite they offered me was 2hrs a month not enough to manage to do anything in .

Does anyone have any advice on parental leave . I applied for new years eve in Sept to old manger she never sorted it and then left Oct i applied to area manager he didn't reply back . just applied again bearing in mind it's meant to be granted or turned down in 7 days in writing New manager said she'll look into it but doubts if i'll get it as we cant take time of in Dec . If she thinks i'm leaving daughter on her own she's got another thing coming . How am i meant to leave her for 7hrs on her own tried for 30mins once I came back gas cooker was on with tea towel on a ring microwave on candles lit in bathroom while she was having a shower and floor under 3 inches of water . My daughter also took overdose of tablets in Feb she told Dr she just wanted to be normal so she could have friends . I didn't even get follow up appt from camhs with this Surely if i applied in Sept and they never replied i can take it or can she turn me down and if i dont turn up give me written warning .

Sorry for highjacking thread with a totally different problem to the op

I think it'd be perfectly acceptable to make a written complaint about them not responding within the set time frame and tell them that as they've left it so late to respond they've made it impossible for you to make alternative arrangements.

    This the guidance on https://www.gov.uk:
    Delaying leave

Leave can’t be postponed (delayed) if:

the employer doesn’t have a ‘significant reason’ - eg it would cause serious disruption to the business
it’s being taken by the father or partner immediately after the birth or adoption of a child
it means an employee would no longer qualify for parental leave - eg postponing it until after the child’s 5th birthday

    If it’s postponed, the employer:

must write explaining why within 7 days of the original request
suggest a new start date - this must be within 6 months of the requested start date
can’t change the amount of leave being requested

Does your DD get DLA? I'm assuming she does as otherwise you wouldn't qualify for parental leave (the child has to be under 5 or adopted otherwise). If she gets awarded middle care or above you can then claim carer's allowance and drop down income support or reduce your hours and still claim tax credits. It means you don't have to worry about pandering to unreasonable employers and could take some time to recover yourself before looking for a role that fits her needs better. One of my carers has just dropped her hours because her 14 year old is struggling since she went back to working full time.

Well I have ASD twins (currently seeing the CDC consultants for diagnosis) who are 8. They are both mild, one more affected than the other. I've had the looks and people having a go, am here most of the time in passing.

    How everything going peeps?

Thats shocking people have been going through with social services, know what you mean about dealing with camhs, load of nonesense. THe OT team at our local is really nice though and actually listened to what we saying to her. She also gave us some advice and chattered about all sorts of thing.

DS2 is having a few probs lately what with his lack of understanding of sarcasm. Last weekend a couple of friends ditched because i refused to give the three of them £3 for drinks. Instead i offered drinks from home, sandwiches and a £1 between them. So they off and the little gets dump him in the shop without telling. Luckily ds1 went out to see if he was alright. Poor thing was distraught, the worst thing is ds2 takes things literally so if someone says if you don't give me money i won't be your friend.

Has appointment with occupational therapy and she suggested asking the paeditrition to assess him for ADHD. Great another thing to do to the list. Doesn't help with me disrupting his routine with not being to walk anywhere.:(:(
  • Thanks for your help on the parental leave . The new snotty manager came over at beginning of the week and said i could have it although you've only got it on a technicalty that we never replied in 7days . If it was down me you wouldn't be having it at all . We all want to spend time with our kids but some of us have to work . Got to get a new job have had enough of her attitude towards me she seems to think i have easy life as i only work school hours . I've tried to explain to her about ASD but she doesn't get it . Thing is she's a new manager in a mental health unit pharmacy she needs to learn how to be bit more understanding about things or she'll !!!! of the nurses and Dr's . She's manged to annoy 3 of us pharmacy techs and we want to leave already . She's only been there 6wks

Just thought I'd post (seeing as I mentioned lack of and removal of services caused by a head teacher who clearly needs a giant dose of Viagra) that yesterday afternoon, after hearing of more failing, refusal and the head teacher refusing to discuss anything with me (there's more to it like staff being fake and lying to my son causing him even more confusion), I emailed three local councillors regarding the whole situation and requesting their help.

At 8am this morning I received a phonecall from one who wants to help and get onto asap and just happens to be one of the schools Governors ;)

Would it be wrong to film head teacher squirming?:o:rotfl:

Sorry to bump this but we had some progress this morning I think.

DD had a routine appointment with her neurologist to review her epilepsy meds and I mentioned during this appointment how violent and aggressive she has been for the last 6 months. Her neurologist is a lovely woman who knows her quite well by now, and she immediately said that she would refer us to a paediatric psychologist she knows well who is very good, and in the meantime suggested some dietary and lifestyle tweaks we could make to try and manage the problem (counter-intuitively one was that we should NOT be stressed about additives and sugar but should keep a supply of sweets and chocolate on hand at home to be brought out at the first sign of trouble to divert an issue :) )

Having been discussing this with GP and school for 6 months and getting nothing back other than "it's adolescence", it is quite refreshing to suddenly have some help and support offered when I had resigned myself to the situation and wasn't expecting anything :)
