You may embarass them I susppose but the most important thing is presumably to resolve your problem.

I'd take up the Scottish power reps offer & if that doesn't resolve it you could ask the Energy Ombudsman to look at it.
  • I made a formal complaint to Scottish Power which they acknowledged in Nov 2012 but have ignored since.

I've already contacted the EO and they are investigating

The latest problem is they have cancelled my payment plan and are demanding full payment without explanation when I have actually paid more than they asked for on the due dates. They have completely ignored my last three enquiries.

I have sent the SP rep my details so hopefully he may come up with some answers.

How did you manage to get an unregistered meter, did you go through the correct channels to obtain the supply.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

I contacted SP Energy Networks who gave me a quote for a new connection. I accepted and they demanded full payment for the work before it could commence so I paid them in full, big mistake. It took 7 months, lots of phone calls, 2 complaints and a threat of legal action to get a 45 minuet job done. I had done all the trench and duct work myself. The delays cost me over £1500 in extra rent payments because I couldn't move in without electricity.

I chose Scottish Power retail as the supplier but when I phoned for a meter to be installed the new MPAN wasn't registered so there was further delays.

It was ten months before I got an account number. I asked why my meter wasn't being read and I was told it wasn't in the system yet.

It's been a nightmare from the start but nobody at Scottish Power will take any responsibility and get the matter sorted. When they were applying for the warrant they stated they had attempted to read my meter on two occasions before they even installed it, unbelievable!!

yeah thats the issue with new supplies, until ecoes has updated they wont be the nominated supplier, also the mops would need updating for the new supply details to flow.

Its far from a quick process, and been fair it happens accross all suppliers

  • I understand things can go wrong and get delayed. What I can't understand is why a big energy supply company can't get a problem sorted and blame the customer for their own incompetence.

I received an email yesterday and SP say it's not appropriate to discuss the matter because of the EO investigation which I respect. Then they go on to tell me that my monthly payment isn't enough and to get in touch to discuss a payment plan. This is the laughable bit because as mentioned above they have offered two plans in the last three months, both of which I accepted and both have been withdrawn. The most annoying part is the wall of silence when I try to find out "why."
