I can confirm that if you agree a payment plan before we get to warrant signing, then we won't apply additional charges to your account. Once the payment plan is agreed, all pursuit of the debt via external agents is stopped. I hope this helps but if you need specific help setting up payment arrangement please e-mail me at onlinecomplaints@scottishpower.com Thanks David

H David, I wrote to SP at the beginning of December accepting the proposed payment plan and asked if they would confirm that warrant signing and recovery via external agent will cease and I've been ignored again.

you need to know how far its been though the process, if its too far they wont cancel but suspend
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Update:

After I accepted the proposed payment plan mentioned in a post above, Scottish Power ignored me so the plan was never implemented. I've sent three letters since Dec 2012 asking for an explanation but all have been ignored.

Soon after I was informed I was on their monthly cash payment plan where they send me a letter every month informing me how much to pay. I received the first letter and was informed to pay £85 so I paid £100. Yes! After 8 months Scottish Power had finally managed to get me on a payment plan.

Just when I thought the matter was sorted out and the payment plan set up I get another letter out of the blue demanding full payment without an explanation. I haven't defaulted on the plan and as stated above always paid more than they asked for before the due date.

This has now been ongoing since April 2012 and in this time I have covered my usage and reduced my arrears by £650 by paying them every penny I can. Not good enough for SP and they've referred my account to a DCA with lots of new threats.

What a farcical company this is when they can't even comply with their own proposals. I'm now beginning to think I may be a victim of discrimination.

Hi David, please see the above post. I have agreed to two payment plans and guess what? Additional charges have been added to my account and I've got an external agent on my case with all the usual threats. I'm still paying more every month than they have asked for but they are treating me like a dog and haven't responded to any of my letters since last November. Any ideas? Do you think I am entitled to Guaranteed Standards compensation because they are ignoring my enquiries?

I don't suppose it is but I can't see my way to being kind to a coward of a company who wont answer letters and who have made my life hell. The debt arose because SP underestimated my usage for two years and they haven't the backbone to accept any responsibility. There has been an ongoing problem since 2009 when the supply was first installed and there was a problem with the MPAN not being registered. But instead of investigating and sorting the problem they are choosing to ignore me. Now that I have pointed out that they are wrong to the extent that I can prove they have lied to me, they are ignoring me so I don't feel very kind towards them. That's just a very brief explanation so don't judge me on it.

How are SP supposed to 'estimate your usage' without the aid of a crystal ball? They are only obliged to read the meter every two years, interim readings are your responsibility if you want to avoid arrears building up.

.....and how am I supposed to give interim readings when I didn't have an account number and my meter wasn't registered? SP are in the wrong and have been throughout. A backbone is required to sort the problem but they are playing tit-for-tat

Please read the thread from the start. A lot of posts have been removed by mods though cos of people jumping in and being judgemental

OK David but only if you publish your findings in this thread. I'm particularly interested in why my letter of 04/12/12 has been ignored and why my payment plans have been withdrawn.

Do we have a deal?
