Presumably the balloon payment is only payable if you want to keep the car at the end of the contract - you can hand the car back and not pay the balloon payment? The OP hasn't told us how long the contract is, but the extra one year warrantly would indicate it's probably a four year contact, so even if the balloon payment has to be paid, for an extra £25.86 per month you get VRI insurance, a service plan, and one year extra warranty, which doesn't seem too bad."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

This sounds similar to the PPI type stuff where the payment also ended up accruing interest.
Very very dodgy sounding at least.
without more info, I doubt much can be done or advice offered however, OP you might want to speak to your local press. Sometimes the threat of bad publicity will help. Make sure you try the dealership first of course. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Talk to the press? That's a laugh. AC is Europes largest, privately owned motor group, and yes the ever youthful Arnold is still nominally at the helm. They use blanket coverage of newspapers in their target areas, not the freebies, the most popular tabloids, and surprise surprise; for the vast number of units they deal in and the complaints bandied around, rarely if ever, do these papers with huge advertising incomes appear to notice.0

I know who Arnold Shark are and where they spend their money.
However, unless you know for a fact how many people have raised the issue with their local paper and had it ignored (and I'm betting you don't) then what you has said isn't helpful.
It is worth a try. Even if for the benefit of saying to the dealer principle that you have spoken with TS and the local media etc. Start to look like someone they really need to help. The nail that sticks out most gets hammered first and all that. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Arnold Clark presents you with the paperwork to sign, first sheet is a summary which will list any balloon payment. Your job to check.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0

You have not picked up the car yet.
You dont say if its a new or used car.
You dont say what deposit you have put on the car but say you are pxing the one you bought 5 weeks ago and they are exchangn your car for the auto and giving you £300 to boot.
If your not a serial car changer - two in 5 weeks is a lot then just phone up and cancel.
You have not put a deposit down as you are driving around in it.
Take a second test drive and say its not suitable but DONT go to the dealer alone as they will pressure you into completing the deal.0 -

Is everything so simple in your world0 -
stopped reading after "monthly payment", people really need to stop spending beyong their means. If you buy a car on credit, you're a fool! (unless it's for business purposes).0

An awful lot of people get rather emotional when buying a car, there's a point where a slimey salesman can get most customers to sign just about anything.
There's a good lesson to be learnt here, people who seem nice as soon as you meet them are often scheming dishonest barstewards.
Annoying because im one of the people it takes a while to get to know and despite being honest, hard working, charitable and willing to help anyone, most people will treat me with distrust.
It's always the loud mouthed, sh*t talkers that people trust (except me, because I see through that stuff with brutal efficiency).“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
