I hope so, so you think ebay will refund me automatically??
Guess i`ll wait for day 3 to be over and hopefully the case will change.
REALLY appreciate all your help :o
3 days is not a long time at all. I wouldn't mind waiting - one of them will obviously be a Sunday, which I suspect would be a bad time to hope that something would get sorted, although it wouldn't hurt to call CS ASAP.

Why does everybody want everything now. 3 days is not that long.

In general, if a seller has an item, what is usually stopping them from refunding as soon as they have it? I can see why the OP is upset to have done her part of all this but not yet to have their money back.

As it stands, if there is a hold, then Paypal/eBay have to action it, but turning it around - what reason would there be to stall here?

Also, the money needs time to clear, we're into a period where time matters, and working on the edge of a budget as many people are is frustrating at the best of times if something isn't going to plan.

Your right! I dont mind waiting - not at all.
I have sent the item at my expense (which i expected and dont mind) BUT he is stalling refunding by making excuses.
I dont care if the money takes a month to refund, as long as i KNOW ill get it back. I just want to understand the process thats all, and as usual you get great advice from here :D

Yes your right to check. I wasn't referring to you - its all the people saying phone ebay. If ebay say 3 days - then thats how long you wait. As you say - you just want to know your money will be returned - which it will. Why waste time and money phoning?

The seller as treated you badly - and if they had any sense would have offered return postage too. Looks like they have now upset too many people - and will hopefully not get on Ebay again.

If the sellers acount has been frozen - he cannot refund himself - Ebay will do it.

Then don't shop online. Its call due process - or are you advocating that Ebay just refund every buyer that asks for it immediately now?

Your often saying sellers need to follow the rules. Well there's a process for buyers too. Tesco have a rep for taking weeks to refund - Ebay are quick in comparison. The OP will get her money back.

I had a case against me recently and my funds for the amount of the dispute were frozen, but only that amount- I was still able to use my paypal account to buy and sell but had no access to the monies being held.

Item was returned and in the dispute console I had the choice to refund or dispute the returned items. If I clicked 'refund' it asked me whether I was sure I wanted to make a full refund and did I have the item back. I clicked yes, and my funds were automatically unfrozen and refunded direct to the buyer.

As I had refunded within 3 days of the item getting back to me the case does Not appear on my dashboard. However I did get a warning that if I did not refund in those 3 days once buyer stated my item was back with me then ebay would take over and the case would show on my expanded dashboard.

In fairness once the dispute was open I was worried about how to proceed because it does not make it clear that agreeing to the refund actually releases the funds from paypal. I had looked in paypal and could not have refunded there even if I had wanted as my funds were frozen and the refund button gone. The ebay dispute was a bit confusing, and I had intended , once I got the item back, to click on the 'yes I want to refund' button and then add a message asking ebay how I could do this when my paypal was frozen. As I said above though it was automatic after that point. It certainly could have been clearer what the process was though

  • Thanks soolin. Yes I believe this is whats happened with my seller.
I`ve had another msg today (through the case) again saying `there is no option to issue refund through the case` and he still says his PP account is limited for 180 days`

All his listings are still running though - I just feel he is stalling. Will wait and see what ebay does after 3 days. WHY wont he just click refund :(??

It really isn't clear- it confused me as anyone who has been on ebay for a while will think (like me) that the refund must go via paypal. I spent ages on paypal trying to work out how to refund to close the dispute

Tell your seller that he needs to look at the case opened in ebay and choose the option that he wishes to give a full refund- then it should be automatic. If you can think of a way of warning him, without it being construed a threat, that unless he refunds within 3 days of the item being back with him the case will give him a seller strike- then do so.

(I am assuming this is all opened in ebay and escalated properly BTW)

  • I have just dropped a line similar to what you have said to mention through the case.
    Thanks again for the advice.
