The house isn't to bad, Mother cleaned before she went away, and there is only so much mess Me and the cat can make.

The bedroom however looks like a bomb has hit it!!! Could take a couple of hours on it's own.... Still it will keep me busy!

    Afternoon!

Right managed to get loads done, even the nasty job I have been putting off for ages :D Just sat here trying to draft a proforma email for a new system we are going to start use. But for the life of me I am struggling to find the words  I'll get there eventually I'm sure.

I've worked out my debt payments to pay off my OD's and store car by Christmas. It's going to be tight, but with Amazon sales I should make it (hopefully) I'm just really going to have to stick to my budgets and not go over is in anyway. It's just the interest that could damage it now. But I am not going to go any further into my OD next month. I'm not!!

But I have decided that the best thing for me to do is take my spending money out of my account at the beginning of the month and put it into envelopes (?) and then once it's gone that's tough. I'm going to let myself have £20 for the bank holiday weekend as I will be away with OH at his parents. Anything I have left over at the end of the month will be paid back into my account and off my OD. This way I am hoping to learn how to budget and also get my OD down a bit quicker.

I'm allowing myself £20 a week spends, which should be more than enough, if I take food to work I don't need to buy anything and I will just save it up for the weekends. I get paid on a monday this time, so will be a good start.

But still another 10 days to payday when I can put everything in action. Just nice to get plans in place so I know how I am going to be dealing with it all.

Still, better to get your plans sorted now so you don't have a chance to be wasteful when the money comes in!

You sound pretty organised, I reckon you'll crack it next month (ignoring any unforseen events). I'm a bit poor until next month anyway. I'm waiting for my loan/grants, that I'll get in September, plus hopefully I'll get the money from a job I did in June.

Then from October I'll get £1K per month for 9 months as my trainning bursary, so hopefully I'll finally be able to make some financial headway!

That's good. When I was at uni I had to make £3,500 last a year!!!! It's no wonder students get into debt!

Oh yeah I know. When I was doing my degree I worked all the way through it and took on any available hours I could.

But teaching is a bit too time consuming. Although some people do manage to take on additional jobs...personally I think they are a bit unhinged though! Lol. After a day teaching the last thing I would want to do is go back out to work, then come home to do my lesson plans!! That would be madness.

I agree. I only ever worked through the holidays, but I tried to be careful with my money. the only debt I had when I left was £2000 OD (and my student loan) Which I didn't think was to bad really.

It was after I left that the problems started!!

I left uni with just my student loan....then I went to live in the US for a while up a mountain. Which actually saved me loads of money because we were so isolated and cut off from the world there was very little to spend money on.

When I came back however, I couldn't get a job for AGES, and rang up a few debts. Then I had a large chunk of money stolen by a very close family member (over 1k on my credit card) that I had to pay off. And then, the job I did get ripped me off! It's a long story but, I'll leave it at (ex) friends and business do NOT mix!!!!!

Anyway, by the time I joined here, I'd been with my new partner (whom I'm marrying in December) a fair old while and managed to get the majority of both our debts paid off.

However, I'm only just through this site finding out how to cut back and not just throw our money away down the toilet!! So it's saving us lots of trouble and falling back into debt, by helping us learn to budget so that we can save up the money to buy the things we need for the house rather than get it all on ye old credit!!!

    Yey for this forum!!!

I know I love this place. I'd be paying off my debts for ages, I'd just never thought about overpaying them and getting them gone quicker.

Just looking forward to having money in the future.

    Evening!

Well I've just had an interesting moment. The cat had brought a frog into the house!! Actually into my bedroom really  !! I hate frogs and I'm here on my own. So have just caught it in a box and put it back out in the garden. Hopefully he wont bring it back in. I was not amused.

But I've had a quiet evening, done some house work (had to de-frog once it had gone) and had dinner. That's is. Been very good food wise today, only 6 syns which I am really pleased with. Cooking for OH tomorrow night, and not really sure what I am going to make. I'll think about that tomorrow.

Sad things is the cat has just come into the room and is now looking for the frog!

Aiming for a good money saving weekend so OH may end up with chicken as I am sure we have some in the freezer.

Have a couple of Amazon parcels o post tomorrow morning, so I'm going to walk into town in the sunshine hopefully!

:) Glad you've had a god day despite the frog :)

Perhaps chicken keiv, h/m chips and veggies? Quark/healthy 'a' cheese/teaspoon of pesto etc in the chicken breast and oven cook. Or are you veggie?
