Back to the original post...

I have insurance with the AA home emergency in the form of boiler cover.

On Wednesday my boiler packed in. The AA subcontractors offered to come attend the same morning but I had to rearrange for Thursday morning.

Thursday morning the chap arrives, says he needs new parts and isolates the gas. He says someone will call to 'book it in'.

Late Thursday after no calls I phone the AA and am told to sit tight (effectively) and wait.

Its now Friday evening and no contact.

Am I being unreasonable in expecting a somewhat more rapid response from a so-called 'emergency' insurance policy? Surely you wouldnt expect to wait days for an 'emergency'?

I mean its stuffing freezing out there and I have two electric heaters, the emersion heater, and a coal fire on the go which is costing a fortune.......

Keep warm by going to the library tomorrow and writing your complaint letter.

They AA won't have a clue who is supposed to be doing what.

So who are the best people to have boiler cover with? British Gas? Or self insure with a local tradesman?

    Thanks.

This is a pile of balls. There are 6 stockists within a 10 mile radius of where I live.

They say they are waiting for the part. Haha!

I'm so cancelling my direct debit!

    NEVER EVER USE THESE JOKERS!

You answered your own question. They may guarantee a next day call out. What of course they will never guarantee is a same day repair.
A local GSR RGI would probably go to the wholesaler and get the part there and then, if in stock.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

And most will charge you their hourly rate while they go to the wholesaler, ring a friend, have a bacon butty, call into the bookies etc.......

do you know what part you req ? just because you have merchants in your area doesn't mean any of them have the part in stock, why did he turn it off what did he say what was wrong with it ?
