A little late...it's now 2 weeks since the OP posted-and the boiler has now been repaired.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

The OP only first started this thread Friday evening.

To get a response from an appropriate company representative within 2 working days sounds good to me :)

Will be interesting to see how this progresses :)

Apologies, I misread the date of the original post.

A local GSR RGI would probably go to the wholesaler and get the part there and then, if in stock.
Yes, our house has gas water heater that heats the hot water for the bathroom and when we moved in this was obviously pretty old. After a couple of years British Gas told us that they'd still do a "annual service" as an add-on to our central heating boiler service but due to its age they would no longer provide any repair cover for it. A bit after this it did fail (some of the water pipes started leaking) and since BG clearly weren't going to help we called a local gas firm who had done a gas fire for us ... basically we found the leak one evening, man from gas firm came next morning an recommended replacing it with new water heater (wasn't surprised as said heater was old and pipework looked a bit ropey!) - came back with quote later that afternoon which I saw when I got back from work, phoned through to accept it next morning and new heater fitted that afternoon.

A gas valve for such a boiler is an easily obtainable common part.

Trouble is you see..you punters want everything cheap. I think the best boiler insurance is either directly with the boiler manufs or via British Gas. All the others are way too cheap.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
