Its a Baxi Solo, the gas valve was knackered.

Baxi Solo's are not exactly uncommon. Seriously, if you take your car to the garage they can normally get their hands on the spares within a couple of hours, or next day at the most.

It takes 80 hours and counting to get a spare? Are they making a new one? In Australia?

Its a pile of balls. I call to chase it up and they say they'll call back within the hour...... 4 hours later and guess if they've called?

Absolute rip-off. Dont give any money to these people.

Now they're saying its beyond economical repair (note that they didnt call me back, I called them back).

3 days after they said its the gas valve.

I googled the gas valve and they're £82.

Let me guess, they're going to quote me £5k to replace the boiler.

AA have been great for me. I called them at 2am Last new years day and and they had it fixed by 11am - just in time for the pub opening (i was going there to get warm, i didn't know it would be fixed :p).

At least they give you £250 towards a new boiler :o

It was 4 days between the reporting it and them saying its BER. I reckon it was about to start hitting some performance target so they decided to s**t-can it.
