J5 -> M42 is indeed the Warwickshire HADECS section I mention above, so my answer there applies, but only if the signs had a red circle around them. If they did not have a red circle then you will not get any sort of ticket in the post for an indicated 78mph.0

To get 'caught' by a HADECS camera, it has to have flashed. The flash operates in ALL light conditions. 1 B&W photo (for number plate) and 2 colour photos (for distance and speed check like a Gatso) are taken.
Also, you will have had to be speeding 'enough' when passing a gantry with a camera - only about every third gantry has a camera.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Thanks Lum, lets just hope they were the flashing amber, going to be a nervous 2 weeks waiting for the post man though.0

Ahh yes, you are right, the merger never actually happened.
I always get them mixed up because Warwickshire is a very silly shaped county, like someone on the council said "**** that, we're not having bloody Coventry".
I don't know what threshold West Mids use, unfortunately.0 -

Pre 74 it was Warwickshire and Coventry.0 -
Have travelled that stretch of motorway many times M6/M42/M40 in both directions and it has always puzzled me why at the end of the variable speed cameras the National Speed Limit sign is a white stripe on a black background. When really it should be black stripe on a white background ???

It is black on a white background where the variable ends.0 -
West Mids follow the new ACPO rules, a course is offered upto limit + 10% + 9mph. They don't publish if this is restricted to lower limits, or available at all limits.I am a mortgage broker. Incidentally, you can see which gantries have cameras. The M42 style ones have flash pods that are clearly visible from a good few hundred yards away; more than enough time for both of my cars to engine brake in 5th to non-enforcement speeds
.
The M1 style ones near Mansfield are less obvious but I've never seen them on, and from experience (touch wood) none of them enforce NSL.0
