My wife works for sainsburys and they were briefed today about these designer bags they are selling next week.I have just watched 1 sell on ebay for £75 plus £5 del.

The bag will be available nationwide in selected Sainsbury's supermarkets from 8am on Wednesday 25th April for £5.

Please note that most stores selling the bag will only have 30 bags.

Are they magic bags or something, dont get me wrong that a resuable bag is a good idea and is something that JD sports and other sports shops have been giving a way in canvas form for a while.
But how else are you meant to get your shopping home. You can't (practially) buy a load of bags for life and take them with you each time you go shopping so how else can you get your groceries home?
As stated in another post I made I am Home shopping driver for Asda and I agree that there is a large amount of bags used, as if we're giving them away (joke) but you can give them back to your driver next time he comes and they should be happy to take them, I always am.

But as for these bags for life, unless they are bottomless they won't sort the problem of getting shopping home.
Biodegradable bags are what we really need, as paper bags cost trees.

Yes you can. My mum's been doing it for years. She takes normal everyday carrier bags in though and just carries them in her handbag. Why is it so impractical?

Of course you can! I have a dozen reusuable bags for life. If I drive to Tesco I take all 12 and use how ever many I need. If I walk to Asda or Sainsbury's I take about 4 as that's all I can carry home if I am on foot.

If I go into town, or to the market I take a couple just in case I buy anything, some shops will give you just the item and a receipt (Woolworths for instance) and on the market I just hand over a bag and they fill it up.

My father has been doing this for years, he has sturdy canvas style bags which he believes date back to the 70s and he knows he can carry two of those full up, so plans his shopping accordingly.

I leave a stack of "Bags for life" in the car boot and a few more at home then take them out as needed. There are enough to do the weekly shop as well as all the smaller daily top ups. The "bags for life" vary in quality but most will do at least a dozen shops. The best ones we had were picked up ona trip to France and lasted over a year! Our turnover of plastic bags has dropped enormously and quite honestly it takes very little effort.

People will buy anything on ebay and if a seller words it just right then buyers will pay more like with the seller saying their is only 200 made

It would be good to see the person that paid £75 for the bag doing their shopping in Sainsburys and everyone else has them in the store or they go the checkout and they are still on sale for £5

Ikea do an enormously strong big blue bag that you load up in your trolley and plonk straight into your car boot. The bag costs about 25p. Obviously no good if you're on the bus but brilliant for car shoppers.
We also bought 3 recycling bags for £3.99 from Focus which are also incredibly strong and make great supermarket bags. The aforementioned bags also gain you 4-6 green points at tesco.
I think it's frightening how many carrier bags people load up into their cars.
We were in France at Easter and most people we saw used large re-usable bags.
