what do you mean by wont open

you double click (or right click, then open) on IE or chrome or firefox lnk , what happens on screen

Hi well 'firefox' won't open on double click, right click at all & chrome sometimes opens but you can't open any site at all until the restart. Do you think if I uninstalled McAfee, that might help? At the moment it tends to just need a restart first thing following day, usually rest of day will start first time.
Doesn't look like being solved too soon it looks.

Hi yes 'all is still well' after uninstalling McAfee, plus with the suggestion to try 'Chrome', I rather like it now, having always used 'Firefox'

same problem here with dell laptop will not open firefox or google chrome.. i ran malwarebytes, superanti spyware and spybot the only thing that came up on registry was i deactivated the firewall i assumed this was part of nod32 defence???........i have reset it windows alert saying no firewall i cant even turn it on manually

Considering you have McAfee as well I would suggest uninstalling it and using something else as his could well be your problem!
