chrome/firefox proxy settings won't show up in the log, only IE

proxy settings in browsers should be empty, if you are using a router.

Hi with 'Chrome' proxy settings are empty, 'Automatically detect settings' ticked

'Firefox' in configure proxies to access internet, 'Use system proxy settings' ticked
The problem on first start up only just started?
Now Firefox changed to 'no proxy' & Chrome 'automatically detect settings' unticked

Will get back with an HJ Log

OK thx appreciated, only using McAfee because it came free, so will be changing...............So its OK for laptops proxy settings to be empty, safe & all that?

avast is also free, and it will probably be a weight off your machines shoulder

yes, no proxy required, proxies outside the workplace are more often than not as a result of an infection

So... You turn it on and try to open a browser straight away, restart and it works. The restart is no different from just turning it on! I don't get it... You're turning it on from shut down? Or just from hibernate/sleep?

Hi yes its from shut down...........first start up browsers won't open, restart everything OK.........tried looking through various forums but can't find anything that really works............do you think if I uninstall firefox, chrome, chrome is only recently installed & behaving like this.
