Laptop won't open browsers?

Hi on the occasional start up of my 'Dell' laptop, even though connected to internet wirelessly OK, 'Firefox' or 'IE' won't open until I shut down & restart? Is there anything I could check?

Thx

  • They should open regardless of your internet connection. Are you simply double clicking on the icon on your desktop? Do you get an error message when you try to do this or does nothing happen? Do other programs work?

  • I would suggest reinstalling one. Or even better - download Chrome and see if that works.

Are you clicking the desktop icon btw?
    And what version of windows?
You could try opening one from Run
    “C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"

  • Try opening it from run.

Also, after you've clicked it to open look in task manager to see if its there. Is it?

  • Go to run. Type in "msconfig"
    Click on the startup tab.
    Take a screen shot.
Show us here (if you don't know how just ask)
